Gun control is a heavily debated topic that many people stand for and against. Gun control has many different backgrounds as well. With gun control there will be less mass shootings like the 2016 shooting in Orlando and the 2017 shooting in Las Vegas (“Gun”). Gun Control laws will help prevent this because it will help keep guns out of the hands of criminals and any other type of released terrorist the best it can.To understand gun control more, it is important to know about the laws passed, pros, and cons. Although there are many different topics that are important to Gun Control, some may believe that the most important is about the laws of Gun Control.
Any weapon can be deadly, but people want guns banned. Another example is that if there were a good guy with a gun the outcome would be different. In the same article, it states, “In this instance, however, we don 't have to ponder how different the outcome would have been had a "good guy with a gun" been present, since there was one: a police officer working extra duty. Despite being armed and exchanging gunfire with the shooter, the officer was unable to prevent him from gaining entrance to the club.” Sometimes a good guy can’t always save the day. Society today think that just because guns kill a majority of people, if the government bans them, everything in society will be perfect and there won’t be murders or a police officer can always eliminate the danger.
Guns, the major debate about these weapons is about who is doing the killing, the weapon or the people who are in possession of these weapons. I believe that it’s the people who are doing the killing not the guns. Yet how do we fix the problem? Many people would go on to say that we need to just get rid of firearms completely. I believe that to be ineffective because the only people who would listen to that law are they people who are using their firearms properly.
Maybe those adults who are tempted to use their firearm unlawfully will start a shooting spree, but those who are responsible will help stop that from happening. Lots of adults have the common sense and realize that once they do something wrong, it may change your whole life. In both sides of the argument, there are still pros and cons, but it would be better if concealed handguns were allowed in public
One may argue that guns should be completely outlawed, whilst another may argue the complete opposite -- making guns controversial. A common misconception about gun control is the means of doing so. The controlling of guns does not necessarily mean the taking away of guns from all American citizens, but the taking away of guns from unauthorized American citizens; otherwise known as gun regulation. Though it is stated in the second amendment that it is a right to “keep and bear arms,” the intentions at the time were that of a state facing tyranny. Hence, it was a sensible security to implement “well regulated militias” with the power to effectively resist.
Many militia extremists claim to be protecting the U.S. Constitution, other U.S. laws, or their own individual liberties by force or violence if they feel it’s necessary. ( Domestic Terrorism Focus on Militia Extremism) There aren’t many stories about pro-gun control extremist because they don’t react violently. Most of them are grieving family members who call for immediate action due to a traumatic incident involving firearms. Most of the time they will call for attention from local communities, politicians, and news outlets. They believe that after the traumatic event that caused them the have this pain that something must be done to ban all firearms regardless of who uses them.
Although some police officers use deadly force way to frequently, police officers should still be able to carry guns. Because of dangerous people in the united states pose a threat and they may have a weapon like a gun or a knife. So with the guns the police officers have they may scare the suspect into surrendering or shoot them if they fight, either killing or injuring justice will be serve. Most people want to get rid of police holding guns because they are scared of police officers turning bad or using brutal force. “Most of the 422 police shootings examined by an internal police review board from 1993 to early 1998 were ruled to be justified, and only two cases resulted in criminal charges against police officers.” (Gerdes).
In fact, people say it is simply just a distraction. Questions have been asked and many others have been formed due to the debate of whether or not gun control is needed. The argument is that the guns themselves are not the problem. The point being made by these people are that the guns that are used for mass shootings are usually legally bought, therefore, it is not the gun killing people but the people who own the guns. Also, that these mass shootings have happened in places where guns are not
Gun Control Gun control is defined by the Merriam-Webster dictionary as the regulation of selling, owning, and use of guns. Gun control has been a very controversial topic on Capitol Hill for a long time. Although, within more recent decades gun control has been a more heated topic of discussion. This is due to higher gun related death rates and an uprise of mass killings such as the Columbine highschool massacre which left 23 injured and 15 killed (CNN Library) and the recent Las Vegas shooting which left 58 killed and nearly 500 injured (Gomez and White). Gun control activist heavily support the controlling of firearms while Gun rights activist oppose heavy regulation.
Grifin M. Price Kendra Gallos English III H 3/21/18 Gun Control Will Not Solve Anything Guns are given a bad reputation because of the terrors that can be committed by people who want to cause harm. Those who are gun control advocates wish to ban certain weapons without basis, ban certain weapon attachments, and restrict the rights of the second amendment. Gun control supporters base their opinion on statistics about gun violence that use a portion of data that is not about gun violence just to boost the value of the number. Supporters of gun control dismiss the saying “The only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun,” because they are misinformed about the number of defensive gun uses (DGU) which far outnumbers the
People also “...support the rights of hunters, sport shooters, and recreational gunmen.” (openreader.org).Criminals are already breaking the law, so adding more won 't deter them. “Criminals will get hold of guns – indeed, by definition, if guns are outlawed, one becomes a criminal just by acquiring one – and leave non-criminals more vulnerable than ever.” (bigthink.com). Gun control laws do not help deter, and only slightly inconvenience them. Guns are a high trade item in the US, so there are definitely many other illegal sources. Also making strict gun laws takes power from the people.
The thought of a society without a militia is sickening with terrorists being able to attack any helpless citizen. Sure, the alternative weapons are useful, yet they don 't have any range upon the enemy and some people can not acquire the physical force or tactical skill needed to fortify. Gun control makes it so only the fittest of the fittest survive, which means even more deaths when terrorists attack. To add, gun laws do not prove any use. Even though gun laws prevent deaths, they infringe so many rights in the immutable Bill of Rights, which is one of the foundations of the great United States.
The Second Amendment was never actually intended for everyday citizens. In the writing of the amendment it states militia meaning that it was only intended for them to bear arms. Citizens have found easy access to the weapons that they use in their shootings. Therefore, guns are put into the wrong hands, which means gun regulations should be stricter and allow a more detailed background check with mental health evaluations. There have been gun purchases where there has been a flaw in the background check system, allowing mentally ill or irresponsible people to obtain guns.
This assignment is not to point fingers on which side is right, but this assignment is to come to common grounds to enforce safety for our society from needless gun violence. The availability of guns to criminals has this country at great risk of
Guns themselves are not responsible for crime; it is the peoples who are guilty for it and using gun for killing peoples. Guns are the weapon which can be used for self-defense and protecting peoples but never hurting anyone. According to me government should restrict or normalize the use of guns by selling to people, because there are some good peoples who use gun for hunting, shooting practice and competition. As stated by Mytheos Holt, “Guns in the right hands help public safety. Guns in the wrong hands harm public safety”.
