Furthermore, anger and sickness are just some of the many reasons guns should be banned from citizens. If someone has a gun and gets very upset, they may use it and regret it later. According to Harvard University, “Nearly one in 10 U.S. adults have both a history of impulsive anger and access to a firearm…” It shows that the majority of people who use guns to kill one another are either sick or in anger. The Connecticut school shooting is one example of using guns in anger. Adam Lanza shot 20 children and 6 adults that day because he suffered from a mental illness. People who have a serious mental illness are more likely to use a gun for violence. If gun control law is not strictly enforced, then people will use the gun to solve their issues that may frustrate them. In an article on the National Catholic Reporter about t gun control, Jeffrey Swanson notes “’Mass shooters are really atypical,’ he explained. ‘They are atypical of people with serious mental illnesses, the vast majority of whom are never going to be violent’” (Rotondaro).
