This paper will discuss the influence and function of the differentiated essential competencies (DECs) for graduates of Texas nursing programs. It will outline the competencies of each nursing educational level, mainly, the associate degree nursing (ADN) and the baccalaureate degree nursing (BDN) programs. These competencies were revised and approved by the Texas board of nursing (TX BON) to assure public safety. So, they are the foundation of the nursing education programs and serve as a guide for professional nurses to provide safe, competent, and patient-centered care. The DECs have twenty-five competencies grouped under four main nursing roles.
As a Mexican American I was told that it will be hard for me to get into college. The stereotypes that I faced was that the only job that my race was good at is construction, roofing, and landscaping. I felt like this was not true and wanted to defeat this stereotype. I have learned a lot growing up in a big household. I am the oldest among all my siblings.
As a Special Education Teacher, I am committed to working with children who have challenging behaviors. My objective is to help students develop self-regulating skills and to be able to function as part of a group. Competency Goal III Competency Goal III is to support social and emotional development and to provide guidance. There are three main areas to succeed in this, the things are self-concept, sociality, and guidance. One focus on Competency Goal III is self-concept. Children’s environments support the development of positive self-concepts.
The article, “ Identifying Thinking Skills for Instruction in Your Classroom,” written by Deborah E. Burns, addresses and explains the taxonomy of Thinking Skills by focusing on the four major thinking skill categories, including: Analytical Reasoning Skills, Critical Thinking Skills, Organizational Thinking Skills, and Creative Thinking Skills. In the article, Burns explains the purpose of the taxonomy was to identify, “thinking skills that were most frequently addressed in the professional literature and within the various thinking skills programs and materials” (Burns D.E., 1993). Burns uses the article to provide strategies and examples in order for educators to successfully implement the taxonomy and thinking skills in different classroom settings. The article provides multiple outlets to provide the stimulus needed to exercise the Thinking Skills highlighted in the article.
The self-examination assessment asks the learner to take time and think about the 30 areas and determine where we stand. Typically, I don’t like self-assessments such as this because dependent upon its structure and who developed it can skew reality. Throughout my military and civilian career, I have taken tests that ask questions into my status or 360-degree assessment of ability levels. These tests, taken in the specific context of the questionnaire can be helpful in developing a process to grow or improve something the program is supposed to help. This particular assessment reinforced items I where knew I should continue to develop myself.
Director Jeff Sayer is referring to the goal set by the state of Idaho, to accelerate talent pipelines. The talent pipelines is a phrase referring to the method of growing and bettering our community here in idaho, especially by preparing the youth in school for white collar jobs in the future. Doing this creates a wider range of candidates for skilled jobs, helping a company to excel. Month after month, over 5,000 high paying Idaho jobs remain unfilled, numerous Idaho companies have suspended growth and major construction projects are literally on hold, all for one reason. They can’t find enough talent (Sayer).
I would like to direct my correspondence to the working class and people of all ages. The ideal corporate training. I encourage one to consider these three examples I have generated to enable one's career advancement in addition to the company growth flourishing. First, familiarize yourself with the company you are applying for before hired with the company which you applied for and have previous experience this would be greatly appreciated. Second, get as much training once hired on as you can.
