In 1776, the British colonists that were living in America were getting tired of Great Britain’s control. The British were strictly ruling the colonies at this time, and the colonists decided that they were going to fight back. Firstly, colonists were given hefty taxes. Great Britain did this to receive more money, since they are in debt from the French and Indian War. Also, there were many unfair laws that were being instilled.
The Boston Tea Party was a symbolic event of the Revolution, but one can speculate with a good degree of certainty that it would not have occurred if not for the series of historic events in Boston and other colonies that preceded it.The Boston tea party was a result of The Stamp Act, The Currency Act, and The Tea Act. Since Great Passed these three laws it angered many of the colonist and resulted in The Boston Tea Party. The Currency Act was the first of many new laws that Great Britain had created that the many of the colonist angry. The Currency Act was a law the prohibited American colonist from using there own American money to buy goods from England. England didn't Like that Americans were using there own money to buy goods the
There are a lot of turning point that led to the revolutionary war. Every act that the king signed and put intoto effect plus the actions of the red coats fueled the colonies motivation to start a revolution . The four major reasons were the stamp act, Tea act ,common sense by Thomas paine, declaration of independence The stamp act 1765 was the first direct tax put on the British colonies in North America (DOC.A). The colonies were not fond of the stamp act they had no say in what the tax should be on nor what it should be spent on. There was a tax on every piece of printed paper used like licences, newspapers, marriage license, and playing cards .
The political turmoil of the late 1600s can be seen in form of the leaders of the time granting friends cheap distant lands and the king's attempt to channel colonial trade coupled with the strengthening of royal authorities over colonial governments. The frequent monetary and political concerns which were prompted by King Phillip's War among the Native Americans and the colonists can define the relationship between England and the colonies. The monarchy of the time took strides to gain more control over colonial governments and more strictly tried to harness the New England colonies to that of the English empire. In 1636 and 1637 a series of battles took place in which the colonists massacred hundreds of Pequot Indians. In the years following New Englanders and the Wampanoags can be seen as relatively peaceful with one another although it is noted that the New Englanders gradually intruded upon the Indian's land.
The French and Indian War was important to the American Revolution because the debt from the war was the reason that Parliament started taxing the colonists. Also, the French and Indian War made Britain very weak, making the colonists’ actions work a whole lot better. Since France was not happy with the outcome of their war with Britain this was a main reasons for France’s interest in helping the now Americans throughout the Revolutionary War, which was very important to the colonies’ victory. The reason why Britain started to tax the colonists was because of the debt resulting from the French and Indian War. The first tax was the the tax on sugar, which was put on the colonists to help pay off the war debt.
Historians point to a number of reasons that caused the American Revolution, but I believe the two most important things that affected the colonies was the French and Indian War along with the British policy changes that they had made after the Seven-Year War. The French and British had, had a long history of not getting along. When the French tried to take over more land towards the Ohio River Valley, the British decided it was time to declare war. It could be known as the first “World War” because it took place not only in the Americas but also a lot of Europe. The French put up quite the fight.
So the local colonial governments. were required to provide provisions and housing. The 1765 Quartering Act was one of the Intolerable Acts. March 22, 1765 Stamp Act The Stamp Act was a tax on every piece of printed paper the American colonists. This created conflict in the colonies.. Legal documents (that now needed to be taxed) had always been seen as business rather than to raise money.
The British captured Louisburg and dealt the final blow to the French when they captured Quebec in 1759. The war finally ended in 1763 with the Treaty of Paris which allowed the British to keep Canada as well as gain Florida, but in return the French were allowed to keep the West Indian sugar islands and Spain received Louisiana ("French and Indian War"). The French and Indian war greatly impacted the relationship between England and the American colonies causing tension between the two for many years and eventually resulting in the Revolutionary war. During the Great War for Empire England accrued a sizeable debt and believed that the colonies should do their part in helping to pay it off. The colonists were against the rising taxes at home and England was offended by this because they believed the war was mainly fought for their benefit.
To prove that the British forced the colonists to commit to the republican value. Colonial resistance increased between the time period of 1763 and 1776 because of policies that were imposed on America, stirrings of revolt and the Coercive Acts that finally committed the colonist to find for their independence. During the year of 1763, frontiersmen from English colonies quickly began move over the mountains and into tribal lands in the upper Ohio Valley after the defeat of the French. The British feared that escalation would disrupt and threaten their western trade in order for that not to happen the Proclamation of 1763 was made. The Proclamation of 1763 forbade settlers to advance beyond the Appalachian Mountains.
Thomas Paine was speaking inspiration when he said, “...if being bound in that manner, is not slavery then is there not such a thing as slavery upon earth.”(153) He was speaking for the soldiers as he explained that Britain has been enslaving the colonies in so countless ways. I know that in 1773 the Boston Tea Party took place, because I was there. The Boston Tea Party is also proved, “1773- Boston Tea Party.” (Roden 141) The colonists tried and we protested against the taxes, but gruesome Britain still gave them to us and we went through it, but we stopped putting up with it and now we fight. The inspiring Thomas Paine also explained in his writ that Britain is now taxing the colonie and controlling us. (153) It is horrible.
They fought in the war against the French for the King and then the King put a lot of taxes on them. Now they wonder why they fought for him. 4. What are the arguments being made about North Carolina going to war? a. Pro- They will be independent of the King and his taxes.
It wasn 't until November 1, 1765 till it took effect. “ one patriot said. The seven years of war was also part of the cause for the Act. It was because the people did not want taxes on their paper. The Sons of Liberty they were the patriots and they rioted over the Stamp Act. It put Great Britain in national debt in 122 million pounds.
The battle of Lexington and Concord, a very famous battle in history, but why. Why is this event so important to are history that the story of its legacy gets passed on from generation to generation? In the 1700s The British finally won the French and Indian war at an extremely large expense. The British started to tax the new world for all that they had lost and blamed them for some of their expenses. The Boston Tea Party, Sugar Act, Tea Act, and Stamp Act all helped to inflame each side in this and help each side to grow hatred for eachother.
