Terrestrial pollution is the containing of the land through dumping of waste and garbage and the presentation of toxins into the into the environment, in other words terrestrial pollution is the destruction of the earth’s surface area ground either directly or indirectly by human activities , also the harmful concentration of substances that are beyond the environment’s capacity to handle. Land pollution is the largest problem faced in Tembisa and it has become bad enough, it damages the soil and this is caused by the overpopulation of people in this township as a result of informal settlement that is also a problem for the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality and the government of the Gauteng province. As they unable to serve everyone’s need in this township. Over 8000 people are living in one section of Tembisa and the municipality is only able to collect garbage and waste once in a week per section. The community ism practicing an illegal dumping in the public areas such as on the road, next to the football ground, train stations, shopping mall, hostel, near grave yards in the parks and etc. land pollution has becomes series issue that we will realise it once it has affected the world wide.
Discussion
The terrestrial pollution in Tembisa is caused by the human activities such as:
Garbage: is the domestic waste or rubbish, in this case people of this township have a tendency to dump their rubbish such as baby diapers, dead plants and animals, pads, plastics, papers,
According to the UN’s calculations there are more than 7 billion people on the earth today when 200 years ago there were less than 1 billion. Populations have grown 3 times faster between the 1900’s and 2000’s (Ortiz-Ospina, E, & Roser, M, 2016) Rapid population growth is a cause for alarm because of many factors. The drastic increase in population could cause detrimental factors for societies and the world as a whole. Factors including environmental strain, governmental strain in producing services, cramped and unhealthy living conditions.
‘Deforestation refers to the cutting, clearing, and removal of rainforest or related ecosystems into less bio-diverse ecosystems such as pasture, cropland, or plantations.’ -Kricher (1997) Deforestation is the permanent effect of the destruction of forests to make space and land for other uses. Deforestation is the removal of all or most of the trees in a forest or forested area. It can damage the environment by causing many consequences.
Stormwater runoff and stormwater pollution begins when rain and snow precipitation flows over the surfaces of our yards, fields, woods, streets, parking lots, and roofs. These watertight areas do not allow the stormwater runoff to naturally soak into the ground. Stormwater picks up dirt, chemicals, debris, fertilizers, oils, bacteria, and other pollutants and migrate into the storm sewer system or directly into a lake, river, creek, wetland, or coastal water. All the pollution that enters the storm sewers or the bodies of water directly is untreated, and can affect the fish and wildlife, areas we use for swimming, fishing, and drinking water (GOV). Sediment can destroy aquatic habitats; they make it hard and sometimes impossible for aquatic
Indigenous tribes that live in forests and depend on them to sustain their way of life are irreparably damaged. It forces them out of their home causing many tribes to go extinct or lose their traditional way of life. -Riverside towns and cities are effected when forest cover is lost, and runoff rapidly flows into streams. This elevates river levels and subjects downstream villages, cities, and agricultural fields to flooding. -The runoff from fields and factories may carry other man-made pollutants into water supplies, making it impossible to drink or bath in the water, forcing people to move
Causes of Humans trafficking in Nigeria Trafficking in human beings especially women and children is largely a form of slavery. In the African state, Nigeria has acquired a reputation for being one of the leading African countries with internal trafficking and cross-border. There are some causes that bring the problem of human trafficking in Nigeria included poverty, weak legal framework and perversion of cultural traditions (United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organizations (UNESCO), 2006). i) Poverty: Widespread poverty

Passage A has plenty of examples of the consequences of water crisis. the author states," limited freshwater also leads to environmental issues that are harmful to the world's ecological balance. " To clarify, the author means that if we don't have enough fresh water then we won't be able to function properly, because we will be off balance. To conclude, Passage A is basicly all about how the world will have consequences for the low percentage of fresh water.
Every day we bag and throw away our trash, but never really think about where it actually goes. The trash is emptied into the garbage trucks back where the worker throws it and it is compressed. The garbage has this stop called the “transfer station” (Rogers 188) which unloads it. According to the author of the essay Heather Rogers in “The Hidden Life of Garbage” (188), landfills and trash that are building every day are making the environment polluted, which is truly astonishing.
The males had a close decision between improper disposal and bodily waste but bodily waste rose as the culprit in their perspective. They commented on the stench of human and dog faeces and urine permeating the town which has taken away from the appeal the town had had before. The females however, tied with the improper disposal and bodily waste as the source of land pollution in downtown Montego Bay as they expressed same sentiments on the smell and added about the piling garbage stretching around the town. This questionnaire has brought evidence to support my claim that a problem with the growth of pollution is affecting
Middle-Exam Assignment Journal Review: The Correlation between Feminist Environmentalism and Climate Change in the Niger Delta, Nigeria Ronald Indrawan I.W 016201300132 IR DEFENSE 1 Introduction The year of 1990s have been popularly known as the era of the environment as it has marked an important summit that has gathered prominent countries of the world to address multiple issues such as global warming, biodiversity, acid rain, deforestation as well as desertification, pollution, preservation of wilderness, species endangerment, one last important issue which is energy consumption. These issues addressed in the Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro in June 1992 are environmental concerns that have given full international attention. The
Industrial and capital hubs in developing countries are similarly characterized by multiple urban sprawls, informal settlements and overcrowding. The local governments or municipalities in many developing countries are highly challenged by mainly poor or weak policy and legislative provisions to regulate and enforce waste management guidelines. They also lack adequate funding and the correct capacity in terms of waste management personnel. All these challenges lead to situations where these local authorities are failing to take effective decisions with regards to solid waste management. It is worth noting that the decisions which municipalities are facing in terms of managing solid waste are not only difficult and capital intensive but they impact greatly on the natural environment as well as on social lives of people, therefore solutions to this issue are a matter of
Moreover, pollution happens at unlike levels. 2.1. Soil contamination Occurrence of man-made actions is the main reason for soil pollution. The waste products which are coming from anthropologic are made of chemicals that are not originating from the environment which will finally lead to soil pollution. Manufacturing activities is one of the reasons for soil pollution, chemicals used in farming and incorrect removal of waste.
Water pollution is happening everywhere but this investigation is focused on water pollution in Ga-kgapane and how the increase in population has led to an increase in this pollution. One of the main causes for water pollution in this town is: • The disposal of waste products in the streams • The washing of clothes and other things in these streams • Human activities such as swimming and playing in these streams Water pollution has become a growing problem in this town and has led to a lot of other issues that should be
Since the industrial revolution, crude oil has been the major source of energy which powers daily life. Crude oil otherwise known as fossil fuel, consists of a complex mixture of different molecular weight hydrocarbons and organic compounds that are explore from the earth. Crude oil is heterogeneous in nature with the main constituents being aromatic and aliphatic hydrocarbons, asphaltines and resins (Al-Gamdi, 2011). At high temperature and pressure, crude oil is formed through the pyrolysis of the hydrocarbons through different types of reactions most of which are exothermic reaction (Arun et al. 2011). Distillation of crude oil results in the production of different types of fuel which elutes at different boiling points such as petrol, kerosene,
Water Pollution is the addition of harmful chemicals to natural water. Sources of water pollution in the United States include industrial waste, runoff from fields treated with chemical fertilizers, and run-off from areas that have been mined.(Dictionary.com).The issue of water pollution has a long history around the world.
