Document Based Assignment 2 On September 11, 2001 terrorists attacked our country causing one of the most devastating events in United States history. Islamic extremists seized control of four airplanes, crashing two of them into the Twin Towers, one into the Pentagon, and the last in Pennsylvania. Overall they killed 3,000 people and another 6,000 were terribly injured.9/11 is a day the U.S. will never forget, paying respect every year to all those who sadly died. There are many clues leading up to this incident showing Osama Bin Laden’s hatred towards the U.S. and the Americans reaction to him.
During the brutal attack called 9/11, four planes got hijacked by terrorists. One hit the the Pentagon, another one crashed into a field in Pennsylvania, and the last two hit the World Trade Center towers in New York City. Thousands of lives died that day due to the attack, but many have asked , “Could they have been saved?”In fact, they did not even need to be saved, it could have been prevented all together. The intelligence agencies FBI, CIA, NSA were partially responsible for not stopping the attacks.
America along with the other parts of the world have changed since the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Our whole security system has changed to become suspicious of everyone. Traveling out of the country and even within the United States can be a hassle with having proper ID, passport and searches. Passengers can not have a certain amount of liquid in their bags if they are carrying their bags onto the plane. The arrival time is now 2-3 hours before the flight time in past time it was only one hour.

Prevention of these devastating tragedies, keeping the peace, and apprehension of those responsible, are primary duties of law enforcement officials. 2. More was Lost than Lives The day of the September 11 attacks was a terrible day that will be forever remembered. The attacks however did not only cost Americans their lives at the World Trade Centers, the Pentagon and on those planes; the attacks also took Americans’ freedoms. Following the attacks the unconstitutional Patriot act was passed, the inconvenient and ineffective Transportation and Security Agency was formed, and the NSA’s mass surveillance program was increased. While all of these actions were done in order to protect Americans from terrorism they have only succeeded in denying Americans the very rights afforded to them in the United States Constitution.
On September 11th, 2001 a series of deadly attacks were committed against the United States by the terrorist organization of Al-Qaeda. Terrorists from the group hijacked four planes and planned to destroy the targeted areas of the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and some theorize the last plane was set on course to the White House. However, this final plane did not crash into its intended target, but was brought down in Pennsylvania when passengers retaliated. The huge attack of Iraq on the Twin Towers on September 11, 2001 left an everlasting impact on the US. On this day many fatalities occurred and much sadness fell upon the world. The first plane of terrorist flew into the North Tower, with a couple of minutes between the second plane flew into the South Tower. The effects of this disaster on the United States were many, including the immediate aftermath/roughage, the airlines, the economy, and the ongoing wars.
The events that occurred on September, 11, 2001 were among the most catastrophic events in American history. The events of the day were summarized as 19 militants associated with the terror group al-Qaeda hijacked four airplanes and carried out targeted attacks in the United States. The 9/11 tragedy was a moment where people had their guard up at all times. This was a time where life had strike to reality of time warfare with every person and country. Couldn’t trust no one that came to the U.S. America is the land of the free and the home of the brave, were brave because the generations before us had to face what had happened and to what is going to happen. This had left the buildings torn instantly killing hundreds of many people, getting them stuck in the higher floors. This attack was the worst in America ever since the Pearl Harbor All over our nation saw a major impact of devastation in the face of the September 9, 2001attacks.
Nearly the whole country watched in horror on the morning of September 11, 2001. As the planes crashed and the towers burned, many thought it simply wasn’t true. They believed that it was impossible that someone could hate America that much. It was true, and it left lasting effects on Americans everywhere. Al-Qaeda had carried out a plan so horrific that it killed nearly three thousand people.
Others argue that 9/11 had more tragedy than humanity, but they are very mistaken. 9/11 had struck much tragedy, but still others kept people safe and gave them everything they needed. “They spent the next three days in that town, where the mayor and most of the residents cooked elaborate meals, let them use their showers, even borrow their cars. ”(Gander) These people gave the damaged victims hope and safety along with the sense of family.
The attacks of September 11, 2001 on our country was one of the most tragic and deadly days in our history. It brought a country together and the American strength of freedom and unity became a battle cry. After the dust had cleared, the questions came about that asked, how could this have happened? Were there not security and intelligence infrastructures and policies in place?

Men and women prepared themselves for another work day and school children settled in their seats for a day’s lesson. But before the mornings of people’s everyday life could begin, a tragic incident occurred, killing thousands of American citizens and breaking the hearts of many more. B. “If we learn nothing from this tragedy, we learn that life is short and there is no time for hate.” This quote comes from Sandy Dahl , the wife of the pilot on flight 93. When thinking about 9/11 this quote comes to mind because on that particular day, the world was reminded how short life really is. This quote also intertwines with 9/11 because it teaches us how there is no time to hate, but to move forward and help each other hand in hand. Even though I was only a year old when September 11th happened, I want to understand this horrific event that went down in history of the United States.

These acts shatter steel, but they cannot dent the steel of American resolve.” George W. Bush delivered this speech on the night of the September 11 attacks. The shattered steel of the Twin Towers, once towering the New York City skyline, forever changed America and its response to terrorism. The largest foreign attack on U.S. soil appropriately gave reason to Americans to recoil in fear and lose trust in the future, but in reality, the country displayed the opposite reaction.
