Is expenditure on Yoga-Day justified?

A brief introduction on Yoga and Yoga-day;
- Yoga has been a part and parcel of our Indian culture since ages. Guru Patanjali started, defined and enlightened us with the entire spectrum of yoga.
- 21 June, the longest day of the year was chosen as the international day of yoga. This year it was celebrated for the first time and to market the event, huge money was spent.
- Questions are being raised whether the expenditure is justified. In a country where so many people live below poverty line, shouldn't a better use of this money be in uplifting them, rather. But, the point everyone is missing is the positives this event will bring;

10 crores and Rs. 5.5 crores were spent by the ministry of Information and Broadcasting and a lot more from few private parties. But when you look at it after all what have we achieved on this day? You don't see borders, you don't see religions, you don't see nationalities, and you just see one group of people. Around 47 Islamic nations joined the Yoga day. When have we seen such a harmonious thing happen all across the world? Isn’t Yoga a long term effect that you have to look at as or the short term money loss? Isn’t this money petite in front of the $210 billion that the world spends on obesity curing and better we do not compare with the trillion of dollars that nations across spend for strengthening their defence forces.
- So here it is not the question of government spending Rs. 15.5+ crores, we must appreciate that in spite of our political scenario, our government took up this initiative in hope that it will benefit us all. We hope that it at least that it brought in a sense of need amongst the citizens. And next time Yoga-day comes up, make sure that you make the best use of
