3.0 Environment Challenges in Transportation
Transportation is the movement of people and goods from origin point to destination point and there are five modes of transport including air, road, rail, sea and pipeline. But transport activities have resulted in growing levels of motorization and congestion. In fact, transportation sector faced challenges of environment due to it increasingly linked to environment problem. The most important impacts of transport on the environment relate to climate change, air quality, noise, water quality, soil quality, biodiversity and land take.
3.1 Climate change
The activities of the road transportation was release millions tons of gases each year into the atmosphere and our planet. The gases was include carbon monoxide (CO), carbon dioxide (CO2; not a pollutant), methane (CH4), nitrogen oxides (NOx), nitrous oxide (N2O), chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs), perfluorocarbons (PFCs) and so on and these gases was the contribution of road transportation sector to greenhouse gas emissions. Based on IEA estimates for 2004, Kahn Ribeiro et al. ( 2007 , p. 328) find, “the transport sector was responsible for about 23% of world energy-related

It is traumatizing for the hearing organ and that may affect the quality of life by its unpleasant and disturbing character. The noise sound on road transportation including car, bus and lorry or truck. According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), noise is second only to air pollution in the impact it has on health. For example, it will causes hearing loss heart disease, learning problem and sleep disturbance. Long term exposure to noise levels above 75dB seriously hampers hearing and affects human physical and psychological. The noise horn sound from truck very loudly makes another vehicle driver shocked and causing accidents. Therefore, this will increase the percentage of accident at road and cause the congestion at
Did you realize that people die from non responsible people. Cell phones destroy families every time one of these accidents happen. The main reasons are, unfocused behavior whilst having passengers in the car, reckless driving, face to face distractions. The list could go on and on but those were the popular topics chosen. Family members are losing their loved ones from distracted drivers.
Even though many might say that driving is more convent, it is actually more harmful to the Earth. Biking or walking to places nearby can help cut down the carbon produced in the air. According to Jensen and McMillan, we can save about “575 million tons of carbon dioxide” if we cut down driving (Jensen and McMillan 706). This is telling us that if we try to cut back on the driving the air can be much cleaner because it is reducing how much carbon dioxide is exerted. Cutting back on driving is one of the many solutions that can help cut back on carbon dioxide production.
One of the first solutions is the governments should create measures, such as make streetcar that is an energy saving and promote other transit systems, like bicycles or eco-friendly electric cars. In fact, the train and the streetcar are the most eco-friendly vehicles, because these produced lower CO2 emissions than cars and air plane. In Europe, twenty cities in 11countries are using these eco-friendly vehicles. Therefore, European people are actively working on decrease the environmental problems. If Hawaiian people use these eco-friendly vehicles, people will be stress reliever of the traffic congestion as well.
The principal at Riverwood High School recently proposes that all school bus drivers shut off their bus engines while waiting for students to board buses in the school parking lot or whenever buses are parked for several minutes. As the bus drivers turn on the engine, whether while waiting for the students or delivering students from home to school and vice versa, several gasses are produced such as carbon dioxide (CO2) that are emitted from the vehicle into the atmosphere. As CO2 in the atmosphere increases, more heat is trap in the atmosphere which contribute to the climate change. In addition, carbon monoxide (CO) have contributed into polluting the atmosphere while the bus are idling. CO are a poisonous gas that are odorless and colorless.
The US went through revolutionary advancements in transportation from 1800 to 1840. The transportation improvements had substantial effects on the economy and also individual development. People could now buy goods that were made in places faraway because access was easier to towns and cities and people’s experiences grew as they were able to be more mobile (309). The roads were inadequate in 1800, so the federal government funded the National Road in 1808 to establish its dedication to improve the roads in the nation and so then by 1839 the East and West would be tied together (309). Commerce was still inadequate even with the National Road funded which improved transportation.
We all have pet peeves that sends us to the point of going off the edge. The smallest things can set a person off and it seems like every other day there’s always more. Many of us will just run away from them and not even ask if they will stop. Sometimes being kind can solve more problems than getting angry over them. Here are some pet peeves that bugs me the most are bad drivers, ignorant people, and noisy people.
Air pollution is believed to contribute to numerous deaths through the augmentation of various illnesses. Close vicinity to areas which receive a highly concentrated amount of traffic results in a 20 percent decreased lung size in children than average, which initiates respiratory dysfunction. The exhaust emitted from trucks causes the quality of air to immediately rise to a point that is 4,000 times as polluted with “particulate matter” as is considered suitable for a person’s health.
First, the widespread use of cars led to an increase in air pollution, as the internal combustion of engines from vehicles produced high levels of carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides, and other harmful gasses. This polluted the air and caused serious health problems for people, particularly in cities where traffic was heavy according to (N.C. Government & Heritage Library). Secondly the noise created by the cars was a new form of pollution that was unheard of. The sound of horns, loud engines, and brakes noises disrupted the peace and quiet that cities were used to, leading to people complaining. Another danger was air pollution.
Road Rage is a problem that needs to be solved. Over 66% of traffic incidences happen because of aggressive driving. The reason for this statistic is because of reckless driving, tailgating, distractions like cell phones, radio, food and drink, and many other reasons. The results of road rage, people will have jail time or end up dead. Road rage is very serious problem, in 2 out of 3 people may suffer from road rage.

All these distraction can lead up to a collision. 1. Implementing someone to not use his or her cell phone while driving will make you a hero because you stopped someone from the possibility of getting into a car collision. 2.
Introduction The use of headphones and earphones has become more prevalent in contemporary society’s young adults and are continuously utilised in combination with MP3s to serve as a form of entertainment.1 With the current technological advances, music devices have become more powerful, efficient and clearer, leading to increased time using them. Included in the variety of sound systems is an array of headphones and earphones in different shapes and sizes, each with unique amplification systems.2However, the prolonged use of these technologies may have a large impact on the ear health of an individual, possibly resulting in Noise Induced Hearing Loss (NIHL).3 A leading cause of hearing impairments is excessive noise exposure in the workplace,
Possible injuries for Truck drivers as well as possible risk factors. In the truck driving industry, risks include musculoskeletal disorders of the neck, back, and upper extremities. Due to loading and offloading they have risks of falls from elevation as well as fall on the same level. These injuries also can be due to being struck by or against objects.
But what is noise induced hearing loss one might ask themselves, and the answer is simple; noise induced hearing loss is when someone has been exposed to too loud of a sound for a prolonged amount of time for the sound to damage your inner ear resulting in deafness, a ringing in the ears, or for everything to be muffled. There are two main things that can cause noise induced hearing loss include; extremely loud sounds all at once or a sound above 85 decibels multiple
TRANSPORTATION Transportation means moving goods or people from one place to another place. With the increase of the population, transportation came in to consideration both in passenger and freight transportation. Transportation in urban cities has to meet
