Abraham Maslow’s Hierarchy of needs theory is one of the greatest psychology theories. It explains why most people struggle in their lives, or in other words it simplifies most people’s lack of success in their lives. I liked Maslow’s theory since I was first introduced to it, and had the opportunity to test its validity in my own personal life. I was stuck on one of the pyramid level for a while, and I couldn’t move further until I was able to fulfill my needs in that level. Since then I started pay attention to where I am on Maslow’s pyramid and what’s preventing me from moving upward on the pyramid, all people are working on some level. Since I talk and see many people on my everyday life, I learned to respect others. And learned how to make the others respect me. Also being an agreeable person, and agree on almost all peoples ideas is another reason that people respect me thinking I’m on the same level of their thinking. And the other thing that I believe was another reason for me to be stuck in the love and belonging stage is my emotional stability, my SAPA test showed that my combined average result was 5 out of 9, which estimated to be in the 43th percentile. I feel being away from my family and not having a family of my own made it impossible to move forward in my life. As an example I found it so difficult to focus on my school, and be able to do my homework every day and at some point I had to stop attaining school until I was over my love and belonging needs, then after that I started school again. To this point of my life I satisfied my physiological need, my safety needs, and my love and belonging need. Now I’m working on confidence, and achievement, which I believe they go together. Not being able to finish school when I’m supposed to, which is a part of my achievements. That made me feel that I don’t have confidence in myself nor in my abilities.
