Harappan Civilization was an ancient civilization from the 28th to18th century B.C.E at Indus Valley flourished in Indus Ghaggar River-Hakra which is now India and Indus River presently known as Pakistan. The brothers John and William Brunton with his team found this lost civilization. Their discoveries lead to curiosity of Harappa’s architectural works. Thus, archeologists and historians were uncertain about the stretching of the prehistoric civilization, particularly in Harappa along the Indus River because of its lack of evidences and uncertainty about the date of the events. In Harappa’s prehistoric time, farmers were eager to establish agriculture for it was capable of generating surpluses sufficient to support tens of thousands of urban residents who were not …show more content…

It was plain and contains just a few material goods. With that being said, we can see that they were living a simple life or that there were no huge gaps between their social class or ranks. The striking feature of Harappan civilization was the citadel. With its 1400ft x 600 ft, 40 ft high, and 45 ft thick of brick embankment as its dimension, it can protect them from floods against the Indus river. The granary and the city town hall are just some of the few buildings protected inside the citadel. Each cities has his/her own architect that plans and designs a specific place to ensure that there wouldn’t be any problem along or at the end of the process. An evidence to this is the drainage system in the lower town of Harappa. As you can see, the way this system works isn’t an easy task. It needs to be fully planned as to where the houses should be placed so that the flow of water from their drain to go smoothly to their drainage system down to where these waste are
