Problem/ objective Junkanoo is a Bahamian festival that occurs multiples times a year. However, the two main festivals are celebrated twice a year. These events occur during Boxing Day (the day after Christmas) and New Year’s Eve. Junkanoo is said to have roots in slavery era. This festival can be seen as a culturally important event in The Bahamas. On these two occasions persons parade around designated routes on various islands in costumes. These costumes consist of assorted of items such as, feather, beads, and other decorative items. The events do generate some attention, and many come to support this festival. The methodology that would evaluate this focus effective would be Data Analysis. In the process of Data Analysis, the researchers will look at the current expenditures of the parade. Not only will the researchers look at cost to host the event, but they will also look at the cost for costumes and other preparatory events (in value of money and time). They will investigate the expenses generated as the event is in action as well as post event. Ways to recycle products, and selling of items to make a profit will be evaluated as well. Another focus is, monetizing existing activity. The evaluation of this focus will executed by using Field Research. Field Research allows for a hands-on approach to the topic. One must view the activities in order to evaluate those that can make profit and those that may not. There are a lot of activities that goes into the preparation execution of these parades. The researchers will look at these activities, always keeping in mind that those who should receive the revenue from these projects are the individuals whom participate in these

For my service leaning assignment, I volunteered at the Conroe Cajun Catfish Festival in support of the Montgomery County Food Bank receiving donations at the festival entrance. In volunteering at the event, I learned the differences in service learning, volunteerism and community service and will provide details in what I learned a about each. I will also provide details and examples of teamwork, communication and networking experiences gained while at the event. A brief overview of the Montgomery County Food bank will also be provided with information on the assignment task, measurable success and interaction with fellow students and organization directors.
Stephen Maloney claimed that krewes such as Rex has done some charitable work in the passage “Caring krewes in New Orleans.” For example, Rex has created a foundation aimed at the rebuilding of New Orleans after Katrina. He informed us that the foundation by Rex was called “Pro Bono Publico Foundation” which is Latin "for the public good" and has been their motto since 1872. Rex has always been compiled with civic leaders who spend a lot of time working with nonprofits. Rex decided to put their resources together and create an effort that would help with the Mardi Gras spirit and city recovering.
For example, when brands release a new product there are huge product launches. In these launches, there are signs placed in the front of the store and the new item gets placed at the entrance of the store on a little table so it can sell. This leads to guests trying new products and purchasing new things. Once every three months, a cosmetic or skin care brand comes in and holds an immense event. It involves make up artists applying makeup on the customers, or the skin care specialists giving facials to customers in order to push the sale for their product.
People came from all over to celebrate the many nights of the festa (Orsi). The festa began July 16th and went on for hours and hours for about a week (Orsi). People offered gifts and prayers to the Madonna throughout the festa. The streets of the festa were swimming with barefoot immigrants huddled in the July heat in front of the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, the smell of delicious food, and giant artifacts like tall candles and a large decorated float (Orsi). The street festival was a way they could share their culture with others in it.

Culture consists of our internal identity that continually binds us together. It provides insight to the unique and distinct customs of our place of origin. One way the Choctaw Nation preserves its culture is through the annual labor day festival in Tushkahoma. With over 10,000 visitors every year, the festival celebrates Choctaw heritage with traditional foods, dances, and games (117). The less traditional entertainment includes carnival rides, athletic events, and concerts. Not only does it reflect on Choctaw culture, but it helps the economy in the Tushkahoma
These participants dance and feast into the night. They follow rules that are written on a board and visible during the ceremony such as: no littering and no consumption of liquor. The ceremony involves sacrifices made by the leaders, a river ritual, smoking from a pipe and multiple prayers. It’s a very important ritual to the Cherokee tribe and they perform it numerous times. The ritual also includes sermons that are lead by the leaders.
