Throughout the history of 20th Century music, John Cage’s 4’33” remains as one of the most controversial works that have shaped the landscape of modern music. Presumably conceived in the late 1940s, 4’33” shifted from the traditional methods of composing music by introducing atonal qualities and principles of non-musical tones into the realm of avant-garde music. Since then, musicologists, renowned composers and members of the public, have debated over the significance of this “silent piece”. Although it was not the first time an artist has presented a work on environmental sounds, 4’33” contributed to the discovery of new music-making techniques that were not prominent in earlier musical periods. The beginning of 20th Century introduced a spectrum of sounds and electronic devices that detached itself from the past conventions of musicality.
He also expresses slight empathy when referring to his opposition. This empathy, however, is brief, before he explains what went wrong, and how to fix it. Ross has a moderately useful logos appeal in his essay. He speaks logically, mentioning facts often, but not very strong facts that could sway the reader.
Therefore, Fairey’s mural victoriously discloses his ideas through logos because Fairey distributes logic by displaying the truth of global peace. Thus, logos is seen by the audience when Fairey proves the certainty that global peace seems like a dream but a hope for something that is not
Both pieces of art convey that it is important to have dignity in life to make the worst situations seem a little better. Mack and the boys, Lee Chong, and Dora provide this tone in Cannery Row while the colorful figures do so in Haring’s painting. The dysfunctional yet dignified tone reminds both readers and art viewers that even when things are not going the way they are planned, they can turn out better if you maintain the pride that you tried to get something done. If you keep a positive attitude, your life will mirror your

Furthermore, by refusing to confess to witchcraft he was able to provide a decent life for his children, and hence he could be proud of his actions. In order to protect their pride, people are sometimes willing to make decisions which have clear/unavoidable negative consequences. Throughout both plays, A Raisin in the Sun and The Crucible, a character makes sudden decisions, with adverse effects in order to protect their pride, consequently making pride the most impactful aspect in a person 's’ life. Another, universal scenario in, A Raisin in the Sun and The Crucible, is several lives may be altered when an individual attempts to protect the pride of a loved one, hence pride being the most component in one’s life. Mama gave Walter the money, because she wanted to help him restore the his loss of self-esteem.
Thus popup ads were created. But he became disgusted at the use of crude adds now occurring on the websites. It is wise to be careful of what you make, for it will live with you for the rest of your life. In addition, invention in the wrong hand can be weaponized or used against their intended purpose.
I don 't know, but it seems a little weird to have a mural of Black Eyed Children in the middle of a small town. If anybody else from Chillicothe happens to know a backstory on this, please let me know. If I find more information, I will definitely do a follow-up
Though she did not understand the true significance of the situation, she felt that “they must be cold-natured,” suggesting how she recognized the seriousness of the situation (204). When Scout’s kicking is futile, she followed Atticus’s advice by “talk[ing] to people about what they were interested in” to Mr. Cunningham “to make him feel at home” and successfully lessen the tension by discussing various parts of Mr. Cunningham’s life (205). Her actions demonstrate how she started to mature as she places more importance for Mr. Cunningham’s emotions instead of her own. Additionally, Scout’s talking reminded Mr. Cunningham of how Atticus’s deeds as he had assisted him greatly by performing legal work in exchange for mere hickory nuts and is only doing the duty given to him. Therefore, Scout continually experiences growth in her views of justice as she becomes more righteous by being perceptive and compassionate of those around her, allowing her to become more aware of the conditions around
This applies to my life because when I am feeling down about a certain situation I tend to be more pessimistic rather than optimistic side of things. I don’t usually consider how changing my viewpoint could turn the whole situation around. A saying I have heard about this is, “When God closes a door, He opens a window.” I can apply this in my life when I don’t do well on a test or am feeling bad for myself. If I can look on the brighter side of things I will be a lot happier and I won’t worry so much.
Although racial slurs are currently a very hushed topic, they were not that way in the time period
Hello Cimberleigh, Thank you for sharing your post! I appreciated reading your hypotheses about what you saw in the paintings. It was interesting to review other responses and see how different people view and draw various conclusions from the same images. For example, in the first image you saw isolation whereas I saw someone being methodical, not necessarily thinking about anything in particular, but contemplating. From my perspective, the person may have been thinking about positive and negative things, but without additional information I didn’t feel comfortable drawing conclusions.
