The lack of affordable housing has created 711 homeless people in Kansas City, which increased from 408 in 2021 (Mansaray). Some people simply can not afford the cost of living. Once a person loses their home, they lose their safe space. Moreover, when people do not have a support system to aid them in hard times, they are more likely to remain homeless for longer. The increase in the homeless population has resulted in more strain on Kansas City to provide resources to aid in combating the homelessness

Homelessness on college campuses is damaging to the individuals who are affected by it. Homelessness is damaging to the individual because it makes graduating from college difficult. To find a way to solve homelessness we need to figure out what the causes of homelessness are.
Those homeless shelters who are supposed to protect the homeless are unnecessary and costly. PBS SoCal states that a homeless shelter costs “on average, $1800 a month for a one-bedroom apartment.” (PBS SoCal Newshour) Most homeless people do not even have $1800 to begin with, making homeless housing projects a waste of money. Because the homeless could not afford the housing projects or the shelters, they often resort to cheaper options like temporary hotel or motel stays.

Homelessness is one the most ignored problems in the United States with citizen and politician. Homeless people are walked by and ignored. Nobody ever thinks that they will be homeless. Due to the economy, people live paycheck to paycheck making house payments very difficult. Most people will want to believe most homeless people are drug addicts or alcoholics, but most people will be surprise to know that it is no all true.

Physical ailments such as malnutrition, lack of hygiene, undiagnosed diseases and/or disorders can be detrimental. Mental disorders such as depression can develop due to the harsh circumstances of living on the streets. The lack of support, affordable housing and medical care that homeless individuals are receiving are prime examples of the need for compassionate and dedicated social workers to assist homeless individuals in regaining hope, purpose, and to evoke the strength within themselves. Living in shelters or public areas, homeless individuals are extremely resilience.
The solution targets the chronically homeless, who cost the health-care and social service systems the most money. The program of providing apartments to the chronically homeless is selective due to limited money, but requirements must be met to be eligible. The program creates dependency under supervision to get people back on their feet. Gladwell assesses the problem by conducting marginal analysis to weigh the cost and benefits. The benefit of spending less money to solve the problem outweighs the opportunity cost of serving all the homeless with a shelters and soup kitchens.
The Minimum Wage Struggle Money is an essential object to acquire in the society we live in. Various places demand a high monthly rate in order to occupy a premise, along with the stress of utility bills that may not be included. Aside from living costs there are many other factors which must be calculated when budgeting on a day to day basis. Overall, the survival rate tends to increase due to so many responsibilities that need to be upheld, as well as costs being raised. This rise in both the cost of living as well as the need for higher wages proves that the standard of minimum wage needs a major increase.

More people suffer from homelessness than we realize. We often take for granted having a home to go to. I completely agree with Anna about her feelings on homelessness. I often see the homeless on the side of the road and I normally refer to them as homeless people but what I fail to realize is, that “homeless person” has a name, that “homeless guy” is a human being just like the rest of us longing for certainty, stability and privacy. Those “homeless people” are human beings without a home.
The issue of homelessness in America has been evident since the early 1600’s. Across the country men, women and children spend their nights on the streets not knowing when or if they will ever find a permanent home. States and federal officials or city councils have tried to alleviate or at least reduce the number of homeless over the last several decades at a city, state or national level but it continues to be an ongoing problem. There is a multitude of factors that account for the growing homeless population that affects each state in the country differently. There are many reasons in which become homeless, and many of us ask ourselves should we help the homeless. We must remember that they are people too, and some time or another in life we all need help, even then homeless. In order to end or prevent homelessness, there are a number of things we must fix, the main thing being the affordable housing.
In the current healthcare system, attempts to provide adequate care for the homeless are frustrating for patients and care providers. The homeless population is anything, but stable, and their lifestyle promotes illness and disease, not health.
