In a small, southern town full of old fashioned, narrow-minded people, Scout and her brother Jem must learn to do what is right. Atticus leads them onto a path that not everyone in the town may travel. Many people in Maycomb disapprove of his method of parenting and voice their opinion about it throughout the novel.
