What are Political Parties? Describe what a political party is and why they are important. A political party is an organization that strives to seek influence over the government. There are several political parties and all may be differentiated by interest groups. A political party aims to control the government by electing its members to office.
Political parties are important part of the American government, which responsible for campaigning ideas, selecting candidates, mobilizing voters, organizing post election government activities and integrating new voters into the political process (Monroe, 299). In different countries, there are many parties, but there is a disadvantage that votes are divided into more than two parties
Political parties serve countless roles in America’s government. Foremost, it needs to be said they are crucial to America’s political system. The political parties are the heart and brain of our government's body, urging people to conceive and feel different ways on different topics whether the controversy is over how money is distributed or the way immigrants should be treated or dealt with. With each party having a biased view it shows how a group can be increasingly powerful with bountiful amounts of support, names and divisions can be heard. Democrats are widely known to be liberal rather than conservative.
Democracy is a system of government, people choose political leaders through elections which are held on a regular basis. Every citizen over a certain age is allowed the vote ; regardless of gender and social status. Socrates argued not everyone should be allowed to vote “ Democracy should not include every member of society due to lack of education”. Democracy “is the government of the people, by the people, for the people”.The elections are conducted free and fairly on regular basis, it relies on citizen participation, it is a platform to voice opinions and debate without violence. Political participation in democracy must be peaceful, respect the law and tolerant towards individual views.
Of course the party itself must have certain roles and functions within the political system of the United States. To achieve the goals of each party, they have a different party program or platform. Here are several programs of the Democrat and Republican Party that I think is good. The first program of the Democratic Party is putting Americans back to work,
Democracy is a system of government in which the power to govern is vested on the citizens. This power is exercised either directly wherein citizens reach a consensus to implement policies, or indirectly through the election of representatives who will act on behalf of the citizen's interest (Janda, Berry, Goldman, and Hula, 2012). In such states that have adapted democratic government, political participation is the hallmark of citizens' right and ability to exercise their power. The definition of political participation, as with all concepts of social sciences, is subject to debate since most social science concepts are subject to the changing norms of society and government. Thus, this paper defines political participation as a social phenomenon that takes on different forms which is used by citizens to influence government policies and politics.
Democracy can simultaneously be seen as one of humanity’s finest creations, and also a natural result of the individual’s innate right to equality. As a political system that is shaped by the desires and opinions of the population, the actions and effects of its implementation become a tangible part of the lives of each and every member within the system’s jurisdiction. It is unique in that, when properly executed, the wishes of a collective population directly influence the direction of a governing body. Such responsibility, therefore, must not be taken for granted and it is thus the obligation of every citizen to partake in and engage with their democracy in at least some way. The democratic political system, and the significant change it
This report focuses on the fact that there has been no agreement or consensus on a Democratic Party’s appropriate and most suitable party structure especially the composition. The layout and groups of the party is being debated. A democratic party is aware that it is a form of a coalition party. The changing of the groups which makes up a democratic party has occurred over time, especially after the reforms of 1968. In spite of the changes, there has been no change with regard to the groups making up the coalition.
Political parties have been a part of the United States’ government since the end of Washington’s presidency and they have become the backbone of how people shape their opinions and view the government. However, these parties were inevitable and would have happened had they been a part of the government process or not. Political parties had to form in the 19th century in order for people to successfully win elections at all, as it was hard for candidates to get their views out to the people, and because people need a group that they can sympathise with and support. In the beginning of the American democratic system people were just acclimating to the idea of being able to participate in the government and form their own opinions. This is the main reason the political party system was considered evil by people like George Washington who
Third party candidates lack political influence in the U.S. due to the overwhelming two major party success rates. Their success can be largely attributed to the many electoral institutional rules that contribute to limiting the rise of third parties, their competition. This historically proven major party dominance is due to many factors including institutional arrangements, election laws, electoral college rules, and campaign finance laws that have shaped the course of American elections; however, there are instances in which third parties can overcome electoral institutional challenges and make noticeable progress. The institutional arrangements in the United States have made major two-party success almost inevitable; however, there is
