He believed that the nation should push for more domestic manufacturing, which would create American jobs and further grow the economy. He passed a protective tariff, placing a tax on imported goods. This sparked a movement that led to an increase in domestic goods being bought, successfully causing the economy to flourish.2 Most importantly, he was integral in the resolution of the national debt that was left over from previous wars, specifically the American Revolution. He argued for the assumption of state debt by the national government, which obviously led to a large national debt. Through his multi-step plan, he was able to negate the debt, which led to a more prosperous United States, ultimately shaping the nation we know today.3
I believe he would answer by saying he had to evolve to the America’s problems. Having a president between him that signed some bills, laws or acts that he did not agree with, the only way he could get rid of them was to have more influence on throwing them out by using more executive power. An example is when he influence the congress to throw out the McKinley Tariff Act because how badly it was effecting the american people. I would like to know what was the main economic conflict during that time? I believe he would answer with, the biggest economic problem was during the second term when the nation’s gold supply shrank causing economic downfall affecting businesses, banks, workers and farmers.
The statement “Economic issues played a larger role in the settlement of the English colonies than religious issues.” is wrong in the essence that religious issues affected the settlement of the Northern Colonies more than economic issues. Religion had a larger effect than economy on the English colonization of the northeast coast of North America. Many people fled from England to escape religious persecution. One group of these people were called the Puritans. The Puritans deemed the Church of England to be corrupt and in need of “purification”.

From the early founding of Jamestown in 1607 until the calls for American independence in 1776, the people who settled in New England had a direct impact on the nation’s future. American culture and values changed over the course of the next one-and-a-half centuries, leading to uniqueness only present in the New World. Spanning from religious groups to scientific thinkers, developments in New England led to independent viewpoints that differed from Great Britain’s. Ultimately, this was a contributing factor for the American War of Independence in 1776.
Industrialization and Industrialists had many important impacts on America. The era of industrialization known as the " Gilded Age" opened up many new doors for the American people. The industrialist Andrew Carnegie had one of the biggest impacts on America by far. Carnegie was responsible for the production of steel.
The New England colonies include Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, and Connecticut. The first settlers that came into the New England colonies were the Puritans who wanted to practice religious freedom. Unfortunately, most of these colonies are not tolerant of other religions. The self-government economy is based on religious beliefs. Finally, the colonies rely on fishing and shipbuilding since the soil and long winters are unsuitable for farming.
In a time, in 1865, Reconstruction was ending. The Compromise of 1877 led the Republicans to end their fight for racial equality. This led to Rutherford B. Hayes, the President of the United States, to pull out troops from the South causing the Republican Party to dismiss. The end of Reconstruction brought America to imperialism. Imperialism allowed for America to gain more power by taking over territories aggressively.
In a time after the Civil War, when a transcontinental railroad was created connecting the East and West, people began to move and settle across the country, creating new urban cities and manufacturing hubs. It was because of the railroad that the Second Industrial Revolution and the Gilded Age took place which rapidly increased the manufacturing of products through the new machines in factories and the spread of ideas by the telegraph and railroad. It was in this context that many farmers, as well, began to move West and experience a loss in the prices of their crops. It is also in this context that many workers were forced to work long, laborious hours with little pay. Farmers responded to industrialization in the Gilded Age by forming organizations such as the Granger movement and the Farmers Alliance as well as creating the Populist Party.

As the economy was stabilizing and the unemployment rates and GDP were beginning to rise back up to normal levels, he fell under criticism for putting too much power in the government’s hands for controlling the economy.
The settling of the Northern Colonies began with the arrival of the Pilgrims, or Puritan separatists, to Plymouth. The Massachusetts Bay Colony, led by John Winthrop, was formed shortly after and became known as the "Bible Commonwealth" for its large religious influence. However, religious tensions began to arise with dissidents like Anne Hutchinson and Roger Williams. The Rhode Island Colony was formed as a haven for these dissenters and exiles, and it became known as being strongly liberal and individualistic. The third New England colony, Connecticut, was led by Thomas Hooker and was the first to establish a "modern constitution" through the Fundamental Orders.
During the presidency of Nixon, he was able to come up with a domestic policy that seemed to have helped the United States and prove effective. Economically, he was very involved especially with trying to dettach the U.S. dollar from the gold currency to utilize the dollar to its maximum potential. He also removed excise taxes which basically put more money into people 's wallets. He also put a 10% tax on all imports into the U.S., this helped boost the economy.
In colonial America, the citizens did not know exactly what they wanted for their government. The colonists knew they didn’t want their lives to be like they had been in England. They were open to ideas; they did not know what would work and what wouldn’t. The colonists knew that trial and error was the best idea at the time. The democratic and undemocratic features of colonial America were very apparent in that democracy as it was a work in progress.
The time period from when the Second Industrial Revolution was beginning, up until President McKinley’s assassination in 1901, is known as the Gilded Age. After the Civil War, many people headed out West to pursue agriculture, and many immigrants moved to urban areas to acquire jobs in industrial factories. It is in this context that farmers and industrial workers had to respond to industrialization. Two significant ways farmers and industrial workers responded to industrialization in the Gilded Age, were creating the Populist Party and the American Federation of Labor (AFL).
