James Naismith was the one who invented basketball in 1891. He invented the game when he was working at the YMCA, training school in Springfield, Massachusetts. Dr. Naismith had been challenged to create a new game that could be played indoors in the cold winters of Massachusetts to provide an athletic distraction to disruptive group of students. With a two-week deadline Dr. Naismith decided to invent a game of skill, finesse, and accuracy, rather than one that relied on pure strength. He was inspired by a game he had played as a child called, “ Duck on a Rock,” in which players lob a small rock at a duck placed on top of a large rock in an attempt to knock off the duck. James Naismith invention got several people to play the sport of basketball, including all 26 million Americans.

I love the sport basketball because i have played the sport forever and it’s a exciting sport to play. I have always played basketball since i was 6 or 7. It’s exciting sport because it could come down to the wire and a kid could hit a three for the win.
