2.1 Freshwater fish in Malaysia
2.1.1 Peninsular Malaysia
Tropical region rich with fresh water diversity and almost 10,000 species of fresh water fishes are recognized but still more undiscovered and not described (Nelson, 1994). Actually, South-East Asia fish species are less than South America but there have greater diversity of families (Kottelat et al., 1993). Malaysia has included in top 10 countries that have highest freshwater fish diversity which more than 600 described species (Kottelat and Whitten, 1996). Hashim et al. (2012) stated that Malaysia is country that has rich in biodiversity and also known as a ‘hot megadiversity country’. Ismail and Sabariah (1995); Chong et al. (2010) has record 1000 species of freshwater fish species found in the South-East Asian Tropics and from that 420 species can be found in Malaysia. In 2002, 278 species are recognized as native with 24 species that non-native in Malaysia (Lim & Tan 2002). Examples of non-native fishes in Malaysia are the bighead carp (Aristichthys nobilis), common carp (Cyprinus carpio), grass carp (Ctenopharyngodon idella), and tilapia (Oreochromis mossambicus) (Welcomme 1981; Mohsin and Ambak 1983). Some species of fishes are endemic at

The pollution also can cause the changes in species composition and diversity. When solid waste leaching to the lagoon, it will change the aesthetic, fishes unable to stay at the lagoon because the changes of quality and it will reduce the size of available breeding grounds for various fish species (Amaeze et al., 2012). Mostly, water degradation is associated with presence of higher nutrients (phosphorus, ammonia and nitrogen) in water and it can affect fish physiology and growth (Mohd Shafiq et al.,
Wastewater contributes about the third most nitrogen and phosphorus that pollutes the Chesapeake Bay. Wastewater comes from sewage treatment plants, which are point sources. Several factories and power plants also release pollutants into the water. They also release chemicals into the air, where they can fall down onto the bay and affect the organisms. Non-point source pollution harms many organisms from the substances the runoff picks up.
The Indian River Lagoon is a beauty to Florida, and a natural landscape, but, it is at risk from pollution. Chemicals, algae blooms, and harmful things that humans do to pollute it, it also puts the animals living in the lagoon at risk of dying, and becoming endangered. The causes of the Indian River Lagoon take effect greatly. Freshwater is also very important, it is a vital life source. There are harmful chemicals from pesticides, fertilizers, impacts this problem a lot.
Hamilton Howard “Albert” Fish was born in Washington D.C. on May 19, 1870. His mother and father were Ellen and Randall Fish. Fish’s family had an extensive history of mental illnesses, making him possibly prone to different disorders. Several of his family members were diagnosed with different mental disorders. His uncle suffered from religious mania, his brother was placed in a state mental hospital, and his sister was diagnosed with a mental affliction.
They are known to feed on algae and plankton. With that being said, the average size of an Asian Carp is around 40 pounds and they can eat up to 40% of their body weight each day. Being such an invasive and rapidly-producing organism allows for carp to be considered a dominant and nuisance species overall. Moreover, one of the main causes of the rising population of carp is that they do not have any distinctly known predators, which means carp do not have to compete with any sort of competition. As a result, the effect on a species with no predators
Because of the dearth of fish, the White River had to be restocked. In addition to the effects on the wildlife, the contaminated water of the White River has serious negative effects on the surrounding environment. Pollutants introduced into the river cause these negative effects on the environment. For example, “sewage, fertilizer, and agricultural runoff contain organic materials that when discharged into waters, increase the growth of algae, which causes the depletion of oxygen” (“Causes and Effects of Water Pollution”).
Chapter 2: 1.Malaysia is the huge island between southeast Asia and Australia. In addition to the island of Java, animals and plants are unknown. Many islands are volcanic. Islands covered in tropical forest, a similar, but had different treasures. 2.All the birds of the family is very common in Sumatra, Java, Borneo absent from Aru, New Guinea and Australia, and vice versa.
Blackfish (2013) is an American documentary film directed by Gabriela Cowperthwaite and produced by Manuel V. Oteyza. The documentary primarily concerns the controversy of captured Killer Whales at the theme park Sea World, primarily that of Tilikum, an Orca responsible for the deaths of 2010 SeaWorld trainer Dawn Brancheau and two other individuals. The documentary begins with this incident but goes as far back to the 1970 's show the audience how young Orcas are captured in the wild and taken from their families and natural environments. Since its release at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival Blackfish has achieved both critical acclaim and caused controversy regarding SeaWorld 's treatment of its animals as well as retaliation from SeaWorld as to the legitimacy of the film 's claims.
Everyone has their different beliefs about being an American. But how do one know about being American if they are not accustomed to being an American? In a story, read by Quebalea Green called Fish Cheeks wrote by a young girl at the time named Amy Tan. In this story, Amy’s whose family including her was Chinese had a dinner for Christmas with Chinese traditional food. Amy thought it was a bad idea. Her family invited over their minister and his son that Amy had a crush on who were American.
The American legal system is complex and ever changing it requires several years to grasp, over so many years there have been many different legal strategies tried and implemented. When accused of a crime there is a number of defenses that can be used in order to claim your innocence or be used to try and receive a lighter sentence. In the case of Albert Fish, the defendant had already confessed to the crime he was accused of, however, his lawyers tried to prove him to be legally insane and as a result stay off the death penalty. Albert Fish case was truly strange and stunned everyone who became aware of the case especially since the murders occurred in the 1924 - 1934 which was a time where children were often unsupervised and the community
The Basics of Bass Fishing and Lures for Beginners The whole idea of fishing can be quite daunting for a novice so make sure you do your research before setting out on your first fishing trip. People who have never been fishing before, but who feel like they know everything there is to know about fishing, usually don’t, so take my advice and have a read through this article to help you grasp the concept of what is known as fishing for bass. Bass come in all shapes and sizes but the most well known and most fished bass is the North American largemouth bass. In the summer months, these kings of the seas can reach staggering sizes and are a spectacular fish to bring home and put on your dinner table. As mentioned previously in other posts and
Fishing I have always loved fishing since the first time I was on the water, It is a fun sport that I think everyone should try. Fishing is amazing in so many ways sometimes the coolest thing about fishing is having that awesome fight and experiencing the action of feeling the fish tug down on the line as you trying to get it up into the boat. I hope to take fishing to the next level and go to college to be on the fishing league. There is a lot of different things about fishing like the kinds a bait like top water bait you can bottom fish which is usually the best technique for catfish. There are a couple key things you need to know when you are fishing One is that you need to be good at setting the hook, you will start to feel some tug then when the fish attacks you bait you want to yank up and set the hook catfish are usually the easiest because they attack it very hard.
Water Pollution is a huge environmental problem that has serious effects on marine habitats, animals, and water quality. BP1: The world's marine habitat has been getting worse because of how bad the pollution has gotten. “ Over 80% of marine pollution comes from land based activities “ (source 5 ). This quote explains how most of the water pollution is caused by human activity. “ Plastic litter does not degrade, can be expected to last in the oceans for hundreds of years “ ( source 6 ).
Within the first group, Haplochrominae, there are two subgroups. Both subgroups require different environments which is something that you should consider when setting up the tank. The first one, known as Haps, consists of open water and sand dwelling species. The second subgroup is known as mbuna, which means “rockdwellers”. The Mbuna fish are smaller, and both sexes are often brightly colored, though in some species the females may be brownish overall.
Marine pollution such as presence of organic matter in the ocean can result in the condition known as hypoxia or oxygen depletion and this can have adverse effect on the marine life including plant and animals and fish. Death of these fish can result in loss of millions of US dollars that are generate from the fishing industry. Marine pollution can also result in presence of foul smell resulting from the decomposing sewage being directed to the ocean and this has the effects to hinder recreational activities taking place in the sea as well as cause discomfort and breathing problem to the surrounding population (Laura, 11).marine pollution can also result in danger to human health. The human swimmers and water sport lovers can become endangered by swimming in the polluted marine waters (Laura,
Most of the waste produced on land is either intentionally or unconsciously discharged into the oceans. Marine pollution and aquatic debris can utterly destroy the oceans causing extinction of the marine creatures. Innovative techniques should be implemented in the law to prevent the marine environment from any further damage. In order to improve the marine environment, the government and the Environment Public Authority of Kuwait should take immediate actions that can influence the society and help in minimizing aquatic debris and pollution. Aquatic littering and marine pollution can be caused by a number of different sources.
