A red star and a big red sign reading “Macy’s”. You have probably seen this sign at a mall or on TV for Thanksgiving before. Either way, Macy’s is a well-known store that sells clothing, shoes, bed and bath décor, jewelry, and handbags. They are one of the biggest department stores as well as a successfully known website. But what is behind Macy’s? What is behind the scenes? Who are they trying to market to? Who is their biggest competitor? Macy’s can answer all of that. Macy’s clothing can solve a customer’s problem without them even knowing it. These 4 P’s are the main ideas for a marketer to know where and when to market a store and their products. Macy’s can demonstrate this through their clothing as the product. For their price, it would be about competing with their competitors making their clothing available. For the place, it would be about setting up Macy’s that can be accessible to customers like malls where customers come to shop at different stores. The promotion is where customers can learn about the product which could be the Macy’s catalog or TV ads that play on different stations depending on who they are targeting.
