Service, scholarship, character, and leadership are the four pillars that make the National Honor Society stand out from other organizations. Espousing these pillars, I find giving back to the community very important, which I show through my service with my church, ELO tutoring, and NHS activities including the OGES Holiday Shoppe and FHS tours. It is a great honor to be nominated as a member of the National Honor Society. There are many reasons why I want to take part in NHS. One reason why I want to be in it is to continue to grow academically with people who have the same goals as me. I want to be encouraged, not discouraged by the people around me. If I get into NHS, it will give me a lot of opportunities to be a leader. Being one of the few who is eligible to be chosen for National Honor Society is an honor in itself, I have my teachers and peers to thank for helping me keep a positive attitude and a good character in and out of school. With the constant encouragement that I get from them, my character, scholarship and leadership all keep improving. There are several different qualities that make up who I am as a person, but there are four that stand out when it comes to being a National Honor Society member. These include character, leadership, scholarship and service.

The National Honor Society is built upon four founding principles: Scholarship, Character, Leadership, and Service. I have a high school life filled with dedication to these four principles on the Spiritual standpoint, the Familial level, the Community level and finally at the National level. Moreover, I did begin my dedication to these same four principles even before this starting with the Boy Scouts of America and this commitment will continue along with having a rich future when I reach my fullest potential.

It is a great honor to be considered for acceptance into the F.A. Verplanck Chapter of the National Honor Society. Being apart of this means more than just having outstanding grades. Even though it is an important factor, aspects like leadership, community, and character is also what shapes this organization and the people in it to be a well rounded individual. I've always taken joy in being a leader. Having the ability to help guide someone in the right direction intrigues me. That's why I would love to have a leadership position in National Junior Honors Society. I'm specifically interested in being the president, but if I don't get it, I would love to fill another position. I have been an active member in multiple school extracurricular activities. Mu Alpha Theta is one of the clubs I part take in, and I have been a member for three years. In Mu Alpha Theta, I participate in inter-school test, practice math problems and attend math competition. Another club I participate in is National Honor Society. I have been a member in National Honor Society for eleventh and twelfth grade. In National Honor Society, I engage in volunteer projects for community service hours which showcase the four pillars of scholarship, leadership, service, and character. I also hold the Secretary position in SADD club. My duties include making announcements, informing members of upcoming meetings, and helping other officers with their duties.
