The five traits of a National Junior Honor Society member are scholarship, leadership, service, character, and citizenship. I believe that I have all of these. I show scholarship because I love to learn. I have good grades in my classes. I love to learn new languages and challenge myself to do the very best in my Latin class.
The National Honor Society is based off of four pillars; Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Character. Scholarship is one of the most important pillars to me. Scholarship means not only doing well in school and getting good grades, but applying what I have learned and using it everyday. I know the importance of education and feel that I am a lifelong learner. I feel very fortunate to have been raised in a family where education is a priority.
I am contacting you to ask if you would be willing to write a letter of recommendation for my application of National Honor Society. The organization request to provide a letter of reference from our teachers. Since, I was in your Health Core class last term which I greatly enjoyed, I 'm trusting that you know well enough to talk about my abilities and qualifications. I would appreciate if you could hand me the recommendation letter in printed form by August 29, 2015, as my application deadline is August 31, 2015. I decided to choose the National Honor Society program because it will enhance my leadership skills and also prepare me for college.
Today I am deeply humbled to be recognized as a potential member of the National Honor Society. To me this means I have exemplified everything you look for in a student who goes above and beyond, not just in academics but in athletics, the community and at home as well. I have not taken this selection for granted, as I believe would be a great asset to the National Honor Society. I am hardworking, honest, reliable and quite charismatic too. I hold all the qualities required by the distinguished NHS like leadership, service, character and scholarship.
I believe that I exemplify the characteristics of a National Honor Society Member. As shown by my introduction to the candidate process, I strive to demonstrate my commitment to the ideal of being a good scholar. I work as a leader in the classroom helping my fellow peers and outside of school as a leader for my Boy Scout troop. I try to serve the community to the best of my ability and to help out in the classroom. I demonstrate my character by being responsible, trustworthy and following a strong moral compass.
Each of the National Honor Society’s four pillars, character, scholarship, leadership, and service, are a part of what the students of NHS embody in who they are and how they act. Character is the sum of who a person is and how they act, be it good or bad. Attaining good character is very important because one’s character will seep out into all aspect of one’s life and permeate into the decisions they make. Scholarship represents the importance of education and learning. Through good grades, high test scores, and academic excellence one develops a love for lifelong learning.
When I was chosen by my teachers to apply to be a member of National Honor Society, I was very honored. This honor is very dear to me and is further validation that I have demonstrated my willingness to work hard, help others and be a contributing member of society. I believe that I possess the qualities to be an asset to this organization because of my hard work, morals, respect, academic excellence, leadership and service to the community. These qualities have been noticed by the teachers around me and I thank my parents for instilling these attributes in me at such a young age. My academic achievements have not always been easy for me.
I am deeply honored and humbled to be among the brilliant and best students who are being considered for the NHS. I have been looking forward to this opportunity since I was accepted at Brophy. I know that National Honor Society does great things in our world today. I was a part of National Junior Honor Society at Saint Theresa Catholic School and that that has had a huge impact on the person I am today. I believe that I exemplify the four pillars of National Honors Society, those being character, scholarship, leadership, and service.
What defines an individual are the characteristics portrayed in their persona. Leadership, teamwork and sportsmanship is a combination of values that will set a high-minded standing citizen in the community, field and in the workforce. The activities that I have participated in have given me the opportunity to experience and enhance my knowledge in being a leader for my team and my community. Being the captain of the varsity swimming team has given me the opportunity to not just lead a wonderful team, but also learn about my teammates and consider them as family. It takes a lot of patience and knowledge to step up to the position of a leader.
The National Honors Society places a strong emphasis on the cornerstone traits of character, leadership, and service within the school and outside of school. I have met, and exceeded these qualities by being honest, assisting others, and participating in school activities. My character has always been an important aspect within my life. This is because character is comprised of honesty, selflessness, and compassion. No matter what the situation is, it has always been important to me to be honest with not just those around me, but with myself.
Over the course of my academic career, I have developed several positive traits that make make me a qualified candidate for National Junior Honors Society. My experience from being in a variety of school clubs and leadership positions has equipped me with the necessary character traits for an aspiring National Junior Honors Society member. I pride myself on being reliable, ambitious, and versatile. I have gained most of these traits through being in positions of responsibility.
In my opinion, I feel like Character is the pillar that is most dominant in my personal characteristics. I strive to be a good person who has morals and always wants to do the right thing. I feel that I am an all around trustworthy person and I works hard for everything I have. My drive and determination to excel are parts of my character that works in conjunction with scholarship. My grades reflect my hard work and determination that are naturally a part of my character.

This is what the five qualities of the Society mean to me and how I show them. A positive character shows honesty, caring, trustworthiness and generosity. I tell the truth even when I have made mistakes. I show caring when I help with the Brownie troop with the young girls.
