Leadership is a very important quality that I value and strive to live out in my every day life through athletics and academics. One way that I lead through athletics is serving as our volleyball team’s floor captain. That means that I am responsible for my team’s conduct and communicating with the officials. It is a great honor to be nominated as a member of the National Honor Society. There are many reasons why I want to take part in NHS. One reason why I want to be in it is to continue to grow academically with people who have the same goals as me. I want to be encouraged, not discouraged by the people around me. If I get into NHS, it will give me a lot of opportunities to be a leader. As a Mexican American, being Hispanic means everything I live, breathe and stand for. To me Hispanic means family, culture, unity, sacrifice and love. Growing up in a Mexican household, allowed me to embrace the meaning of family and welcome the core values that have been embedded in my heart and spirit. I am proud and honored to be taught how to work hard physically and mentally, to commit and lead in causes that are worth the fight, to sacrifice for others and to serve one another in love. As an individual i have a lot of good qualities, like being a leader and helping people when they need it or standing up for what i know is right. I have a lot of good qualities and I think that my good qualities should be spread throughout my school and community.

Recieveing this letter that I was inducted to be in the National Junior Honor Society made my heart beat faster than I’d ever keep track of, knowing that I was more of a gifted student. Every heart beat was building up my stimulation about this honor, telling me that I demonstrate scholarship, citizenship, character, leadership, and service. To know that I have all of those traits in me makes me feel more of a part of this society, and has made me begin to realize the considerable things that I’ve done. This oppertunity is great for me because I can expand my inner and outer school activities to show what great things I do in my time.

The first reason why I should be in National Junior Honor Society is because of my leadership skills. The first example of my leadership skills are applied to my youth group in the Cecilton Parish. I am the treasurer and help with the Ideas for fundraising. We, as a group held a spaghetti dinner for the church and I managed the money and the setting. Pursuing this further, I actively show leadership in school. I am very active in the classroom environment. I love to lead the groups and help organize when and what needs to be done in a project. I also help the group stay on task and help them when they need it. One final example of my leadership, is seen in the after school

The most character building experience in my life was when I joined the National Junior Honor Society in middle school. Engaging in NJHS has molded me into honing the attributes of leadership, citizenship, scholarship, service, and character. For instance, involving myself in community service like Relay For Life, not only aided me with the chance to assist my community but has helped me to develop citizenship and service. Furthermore, being in the organization has made me realize that I can assume the role of leadership and guide my fellow classmates by being a role model. What does it mean to have character? Character is what makes each person so individual. Character is very specific to each person, and everyone’s character is different. Character can be broken down into six different pillars; each one exemplifying what is truly means to be a Nation Honor Society candidate, which is why character continues to be one of the most important pillars in National Honor Society.

I greatly appreciate my nomination to be considered for induction into the National Honors Society. I would be honored to join such an organization as it would not only provide opportunities for myself, but also encourages and emphasizes the importance of service to community. Before and during high school, I have been active in serving the community in a consistent way. Other activities I do also influence and shape the way in which I approach service and leadership tasks.

Today I am deeply humbled to be recognized as a potential member of the National Honor Society. To me this means I have exemplified everything you look for in a student who goes above and beyond, not just in academics but in athletics, the community and at home as well. I have not taken this selection for granted, as I believe would be a great asset to the National Honor Society. I am hardworking, honest, reliable and quite charismatic too. I hold all the qualities required by the distinguished NHS like leadership, service, character and scholarship. Often time I see myself living by the quote “See the world not as it is, but as it should be” and I try to, to the best of ability everyday. Being in NHS would give me the chance to live out this quote wholeheartedly and inspire others to do the same.

It is an extraordinary honor to be considered as a candidate for the National Honor Society. Being considered means I have achieved my goal in demonstrating my determination- in school and outside of school- and my willingness to aid people in my community. Being a part of such a prestigious organization is an enormous responsibility to which I will fully devote my time. Ever since I was a freshman, my goal was to work diligently to be among the highest scholars and to be accepted into this scholarly “hall of fame”. Through my relentless hard work and perseverance, I believe that I possess the four characteristics of a National Honor Society member- leadership, service, character, and scholarship.

The National Honor Society is built upon four founding principles: Scholarship, Character, Leadership, and Service. I have a high school life filled with dedication to these four principles on the Spiritual standpoint, the Familial level, the Community level and finally at the National level. Moreover, I did begin my dedication to these same four principles even before this starting with the Boy Scouts of America and this commitment will continue along with having a rich future when I reach my fullest potential.

Being a candidate for the National Honor Society is a tremendous honor for me. Since I began high school, it has been a goal of mine to be a part of this amazing organization. Being involved in my school and community has always been important to me, and any chance I get to further my involvement is great. I believe that NHS is the perfect opportunity for me to serve others and help better our community. I understand that a member of NHS shows qualities of scholarship, leadership, service, and character. Throughout my life I have valued these qualities and shown them in many ways.

Throughout my high school career, I was forced into many situations where I was challenged to connect with my peers and serve as a role model for future students. Whether it be my involvement in the school marching band, or helping students in community tutoring sessions, I have always made it my goal to better the people around me through my own efforts. Throughout my high school career, I have put forth my best effort to connect with my peers, transform individuals, and make a difference in my community.

Perseverance. That’s the one trait you need to succeed. Why? Because it allows you to push forward despite adversity and setbacks, it is build upon the strength of your desires and creates a fire to succeed. I exemplify perseverance by not allowing my past to decipher my future goals. Growing up in Newark was a death sentence for most educationally. Surrounded by Ghettos everyone assumed the only way of life was to sell drugs and to work at Mc Donald’s. My mother did not allow that perception to define our life or our way of learning. She always wanted better for her, for us.
