The National Honor Society gives an opportunity to all dedicated students to contribute to the community. This wonderful organization is made up of responsible, driven, leadership, and punctual students. This organization recognizes students with outstanding grades and academic skills, which I possess. The National Honor Society would be a great opportunity for me to expand my wings and contribute to the school that has given so much to me.
Being nominated to be a member of the National Honor Society is an honor in itself. I was certainly looking to be a part of this prestigious honor society since the beginning of my high school career here in United States. The organization will give me an opportunity to work with the exemplary students who share and vision the same goal as I do, the betterment of the society. I believe I can contribute my knowledge and attributions towards this society as this organization do many great things. “The purpose of getting power is to be able to give it away.” These are wise words once spoken by the founder of the National Honor Society, Aneurin Bevan, explaining the dynamic of the NHS. Fundamentally, the National Honor Society is an esteemed organization that recognizes the achievements of treasured students and helps them advance their influence on their community, primarily in order to help others. In my past endeavors and years spent attending school, I have surpassed expectations in the fields of academics, character, leadership and service, and intend to use the platform of National Honor Society to further advance my presence in these areas.
Consequently, these are optimal years for “developing future leaders whose decisions and actions will reflect universal human values”. The development of leadership abilities in youth, asserts Heath (2005), “should rank high on the agenda of school administrators, teachers, parents, and all who work with and on behalf of young people”. Becoming a member of the National Honor Society would aid me in developing my skills, giving back to the community and it would greatly benefit me as a scholar. All my life I had always loved to help others and set an example. I believe that community service through the program National Honor Society, has greatly impacted my life by showing me how I can put my underlying motivation and cast a full fire of passion. I have always loved to teach and motivate others to try their hardest in school to achieve something above of their expectations. From my love of teaching, tutoring and trying to help understand in "student talk" has always been a strong point to show how rewording something can greatly impact a student's understanding which is all worthwhile. I always make sure to keep my grades up and dedicate time to studying and persevering which has influenced others around me to follow my path to achievement.
Leadership is being bold enough to provide a vision, and humble enough to recognize achieving it will take the efforts of many people. It means being an example, a contributor, and a motivator. Leadership is inspiring, and empowering a team to work towards a common goal. Leadership is understanding people's talents, and temperaments and creating an environment to let others soar to their highest potential. Through out my high school career leadership has been a big part of my life.
Welch (2014), states that relationships have the ability to influence learning, behaviour, engagement and wellbeing of students. In particular peer relationships can provide a range of positive outcomes that can influence a students social and emotional wellbeing. Welch (2014), highlights that there are many varieties of peer relationships, all of which can have positive effects on the associated students. Welch (2014), states that peer relationships provide students with companionship, emotional support, social identity and a sense of safety and belonging. These aspects of peer relationships are imperative to the academic success of students.
Professionalism is an important conduct of individuals in every job, career, and even some students while attending school. I understand professionalism to be the art of carrying oneself, handling, and resolving situations with the utmost integrity, confidence, and respect. By embodying professionalism while at your job, career, profession, and while attending school in many circumstances, it allows for situations, conflicts, and relationships to be in favor of a positive outcome. Being professional is inclusive of the actions and behaviors of an individual. Actions will line up with what the individual says; showing integrity and trustworthiness to employers, customers, and those who are interacted with.
Londonderry High School Honor Council The Londonderry High School Student Council is an organization that has been diligent in providing our school with the best service possible, entrusting roles of leadership to the student body in order to promote the development of college and career skills. We believe in the importance of self-directed action and individual initiative. We promote school spirit and pride on both the curricular and extra-curricular level. We are the representatives of every student in our school and strive to set an example of quality to be followed.
To many this is a clear definition of a scholar. These are just a few reasons why you are sitting before us and the opportunity to become a great leader. Congratulations to you all and keep striving to better yourself every

This is a collaborative and multi-tiered support approach involving students, parents, faculty and staff, and community learners as stakeholders in the success of our students. 2.
Getting great grades sets you on the path to a great big world of opportunities. On the other hand, service, character and leadership help separate the stellar, from the great in the final determination. The National Honors Society is an organization looking to recruit all the stellar students, and these kids are the ones who improve the schools and communities of this nation. Kids with character help keep kindness flowing around the world. Along with character, kids that volunteer and provide service for their communities help improve the lives for everyone around them.
It goes on to establish educational practices that promote a strong work ethic, strict discipline, memorization skills and drive for excellence as well as higher level thinking skills, problem-solving approaches and group work (1.2_1). The School demonstrates commitment to our four core values of “Respect, Responsibility, Hard Work and Honesty”by frequently reminding students through assemblies, displaying it throughout our school in posters and signs, and by incorporating it into the School’s Student Planner (1.2_2). These philosophies and values are shared with our staff through meetings and discussions (1.2_3) with an emphasis on developing and maintaining the School’s academic culture. The School provides a challenging curriculum as outlined by the government of British Columbia’s Prescribed Learning Outcomes (1.2_4) and the government of British Columbia’s handbook of procedures (1.2_5). The School is inspected yearly to assure these high qualities of educational standards are being maintained (1.2_6).
