Nurse practitioner is becoming a well-known profession in health care. Their roles vary incredibly from day-to-day. While in collaboration with other health care professionals, nurse practitioners are able to diagnose and treat many illnesses and diseases at a low cost. They also work closely with primary care physicians in order to properly treat a patient. For example, if a child comes in with tonsillitis, a nurse practitioner has the ability to see the patient initially and consult with the doctor if need be. Nurse practitioners are essentially an extension of a physician. They have a higher education than a nurse and can even become specialized in areas such as pediatrics and geriatrics.
