In 2007, I, along with a few of my peers, founded the Little Lemon Drop Jr. Guild as a way to give back to our community. Since then, this nonprofit organization has raised thousands of dollars that has gone to support uncompensated care at Seattle Children’s Hospital. Throughout my middle school and high school years, I have been very involved with this group. When I had the opportunity to choose a service placement for this year, I immediately knew I would be doing my service through the Little Lemon Drop Jr. Guild because of my previous involvement with the guild and my passion for the cause the guild supports. I believe that the cause the Little Lemon Drop Jr. Guild supports is very important, as although I have never had to undergo a

As an avid humanitarian and high achieving honor student, I believe I qualify to receive the Heart O’ Texas Fair and Rodeo Scholarship. When I think of HOT, I think of the quintessential Texan: someone with a big heart, humble soul, and a great attitude. I am a proud Texan and investing in me for this scholarship will help me continue to spread the Texan way of life. One of my greatest passions is community service and philanthropy. In my sophomore year of high school, I began an organization dedicated to my passions.

Due to my completion of 300 hours serving my community, AmeriCorps granted me a scholarship for $1,671 to go towards my education. This scholarship was an honor because that year out of the program only, myself and another member was awarded with this scholarship out of a group of nine. I was very proud to have been able to complete my hours along with leaving an imprint of service in my
These events provide students with the opportunity to make independent decisions and display leadership. Whether it be opportunities for students to volunteer for Freshman Orientation or Parents Night or any other student council event, they display academic and life-skills that will be of good use to them in their futures. Our events have always been successful and those who have been involved have been nothing short of impressed with our services. The canned food drive is a very popular event that we hold at our school. The friendly competition that the event creates is what allows us to be able to donate thousands of canned goods to our local food pantry on an annual basis.

It took a lot of work, but it was all for a great cause and was worth every second. The entire community joined together and came to support our classmate and this event. We ended up raising a great amount of money for our classmate, Noah. Seeing the smiles on his and his parent’s faces and seeing how appreciative they were was rewarding
