As globalization increased competition through the worldwide interconnectedness, it became more difficult to hold on to a company’s competitive advantage. Vancity, founded in 1946, enjoys its own competitive advantage to be one of the greatest employers in Canada. The National Honors Society is an organization consisting of outstanding students across the nation, and I am truly honored to be considered to join. Not only does this organization push students to succeed academically, but it also allows them to build character by taking part in their communities through leadership roles and service. With this, I would take advantage of all the opportunities the society presented me to build my own character even further. In my years of high school, I have shown that I am qualified to join the society based on my performance in academics, character, leadership and service.
In today’s era managers are challenged daily with disputes like ethics, diversity, working in teams, privacy, sexual harassment, and handling differences. Furthermore, these issues are discussed because they are constantly the debatable topics in the workplace. More importantly, handling differences and diversity is the current situations in the workplace. Moreover, a few managerial concepts must be considered, including selection methods, training and development, performance appraisal, and diversity management. This paper examines Bateman and Snell’s research against the case study video entitled “Diversity in Hiring: Candidate Conundrum” to propose that additional examination be conducted to decide whether Robert Gedaliah or Paul Munez was correct in their decision making pertaining to whom to hire for the Outreach Customer Representative position.

In The National Honors Society, there are four pillars that an NHS Member should exemplify. These four pillars consist of Leadership, Service, Character, and Scholarship. I think that I would be a good candidate for NHS because I exemplify these four pillars. First, I have leadership qualities testified by my numerous leadership positions across multiple fields. Another trait that I support heavily is service. I support this trait by the plethora of community service activities I participate in both community and world wide. Following service is character which can signify numerous things from courage to compassion and honesty to loyalty. This trait which is much harder to express in words is sprinkled all throughout my life in scenarios both big and small. The last trait is scholarship which I will not prattle on about because as stated in the rubric I already qualify in this category.

This type of community-based option has proven to be quite effective in easing the reintegration process, but there are additional programs that offer an even more personal and interactive approach. Circles of Support and Accountability is a perfect example; COSA works with people who have committed crimes, specifically sex offenders, to reintegrate them into communities where they feel unwelcome and unwanted. The core members of the program learn how to, “carry out basic aspects of community life such as looking for work or accommodation and adjusting to life outside of prison. In addition, the volunteers hold the [offenders] to account for their own reintegration” (Clarke et al, p. 3). This is one of the main reasons the program has proven
Since the fall of 2013, I’ve been on both crews of Calumet Perspectives and The Calumet Roundtable. I have been involved in both “above the line,” which includes individual crew members who have direct creative control of the show, and “below the line” positions, crew members who operate television equipment. After the end of Calumet Perspectives, I was chosen to be the show producer of a new student run, student produced television show, later named The Calumet Roundtable. Since then, I have been the show producer as an undergraduate and I have been lucky enough to remain in this position as part of my graduate assistantship.
It was spectacular to learn that Keystone Community Services is a non-profit organization. The funding sources and mission of Keystone Community Services was intriguing and powerful to see an organization that strives to improve a quality of life. In addition, it was amazing to learn about the multi-services program provided under Keystone Community Services. However, I reconsidered and would like to point a change in the organizations. As I understand not only do Keystone Community Services own community reach out, but other nearby communities reach out Keystone assistances. It will be great to see Keystone Community Services make a change and expand their serving into other geographic areas. All in all, I think that if I was to have an opportunity to work with Keystone Community Services I would love to be a part of this awesome organization. The organization and mission are a high-functioning organization that appreciates its distinct role in the community, a community that I would enjoy exploring my social work
