St. Juan Diego was born in 1474 in Cuautitlán, Mexico. In his early age, he and his family worked as farmers as the Spanish conquistadors arrived in Mexico. He grew up as an only child and lived a very simple life (Catholic Online). Although he did not grow up Catholic, he converted later in his life and became very strong in his faith. St. Juan Diego is one of the few people in history to have seen Our Lady of Guadalupe after her ascension. His feast day is December 9, the same day he first saw Our Lady of Guadalupe.
