INTRODUCTION
A. Background of the study Alcohols are now commonly used nowadays because people become more conscious of cleanliness. Antiseptics are used to reduce the level of the microorganisms on the skin. But most alcohols are expensive and in some provinces people cannot go in the city to buy the commercial alcohol. The commercial antiseptic alcohol has a problem in inhalation that can cause sickness, because of the toxic chemical added on it. To avoid harmful effects of using commercial antiseptic alcohols the substance should never come in contact with a person’s skin or eyes during use.

It is the scientific name for the tamarind. This is the scientific name that is used in the study of the researcher (Tamarind husks as an alternative component in making an alcohol.)
Antiseptic alcohol. Antimicrobial substances that are applied to living tissue/skin to reduce the possibility of infection, sepsis, or putrefaction (Chisholm, 1991). This is the experiment of the researcher.
Flammability. Flammability is the ability of a substance to burn or ignite, causing fire or combustion (Garner, 2016). It is a test that the researcher used to find out if the tamarind husks is effective as an alternative antiseptic alcohol.
FeCl3. It is also called as Ferric Chloride and it is used to test the amount of phenols. It is a reagent that the researcher will used to find out if the tamarind husks is effective as an alternative component in making an alcohol.
Phytochemical test. It refers to the extraction, testing and identification of the medicinally active substances found in plants. Some of the bioactive substances that can be derived from plants are tannin, antioxidants, flavonoids, alkaloids, carotenoids, and phenolic compounds. It is a test that the researcher used to find out if the tamarind husks is effective as an alternative antiseptic
