As we all know 27 year old James Eagan Holmes opened fire in a crowded movie theater, Century 16, on July 20,2012. Holmes had over 700 rounds of ammunition with him, killing 12 and injuring 70. Not long ago, over 3 years after the shooting, on August 7th, Holmes was sentenced to 12 life sentences and 3,318 years without parole. Holmes was a former grad student.

He lived with a family who always encouraged and supported him. This includes: his mom, Betty and his dad, Rolly. Also, his siblings Darryl, Fred and Judith.
Determination is what kept him running, ever pushing the envelope of what his body could handle. Terry Fox inspired not only the people of that time, but future generations to come. Fox’s sense of integrity, and absolute selflessness made him a role model for old and young people alike. Fox symbolized much of what is best about Canada; his legacy will forever uplift Canadians and all who are exposed to his accomplishments. My personal take away from the Terry Fox story is, never give up, if Fox could do it with one leg and a body full of cancer, what I can I accomplish?

Christopher Simmons was not your typical American teenager. Abused and neglected as a young boy, by the time he was seventeen years old he became a convicted murderer and was sentenced to the maximum punishment which is the death penalty. Christopher Simmons was old enough and mature enough to understand that what he did was morally and socially wrong. If someone can completely conjugate up a murder plot by oneself, then they should be sentenced to the death penalty no matter the age. Simmons should have received the death penalty despite his age at the time of the crime he perpetrated.
