It is that time of year again. Everywhere you go, commercialized Christmas songs are blasting through speakers, and shouts of “Merry Christmas!” or “Happy Holidays!” can be heard. But what exactly is the difference between these two sayings? Does it really matter which one you use?
There has always been controversy around people using these two expressions, but it only seems to be increasing as the years go on. A perfect example is Starbucks’ winter themed cups. Some Christians got upset when Starbucks swapped out the designs on their cups, which tended to be Christmas-related, for the simple red cup instead. However, the problem is deeper than this.
