I agree with kaepernick because the actions that police have been making (especially to blacks) is unbelievably horrible. For example Amadou Diallo, Manuel Loggins jr, Ronald Madison, Kendra James, Sean Bell, Eric Garner, Michael Brown, and Alton Sterling are all African Americans and have all been killed by a one cop or more. So I see where kaepernick’s coming from and if i was him I’d probably do the same thing. This article doesn 't really talk about Colin Kaepernick and his anthem protest it mostly talks about the anthem and how it’s played before a game of NBA and NFL etc.
“Because My Father Always Said He Was the Only Indian Who Saw Jimi Hendrix Play “The Star-Spangled Banner” at Woodstock,” Sherman Alexie, the author, depicts a very rare, but normal image of a Native American family. Victor, the narrator, father beat a National Guard solider during an anti-Vietnam war rally. The incident was documented, seeing that his father a Native American. In result of this incident, Victor’s father was imprisoned for two years. After being released from being imprisoned, the first thing his father did was go back to Woodstock, where he says he was he was the only Indian to see Jimi Hendrix’s famous performance of the “Star-Spangled Banner”.
Unlike during the Unmentionable Times, when men created “towers [that] rose to the sky,” it is an affliction to be born with powerful intellectual capacity and ambition in Ayn Rand’s apocalyptic, nameless society in Anthem. Collectivism is ostensibly the moral guidepost for humanity, and any perceived threat to the inflexible, authoritarian regime is met with severe punishment. The attack on mankind’s free will and reason is most evident in the cold marble engraving in the Palace of the World Council: “We are one in all and all in one. There are no men but only the great WE, One, indivisible and forever” (6). Societal norms force homogeneity and sacrifice among all people.
In several ways the novella Anthem can be compared to the modern day communist dictatorship North Korea. Although they are similar in some places they are completely different in other ways. Ways they are able to be compared and contrasted are the forms of government, the state and mentality of the citizens, and development or progress as a civilization. In our society, people are motivated in lots of different ways. This can create both positives, such as putting a man on the moon, and negatives, such as war and starving people. Anthem is a story about a man who is going against his collectivist society in his search for individuality. Equality’s main motivation is to discover new things and new ideas in the world around him, as well as to try to figure out who he is as an individual. His motivation is correct because he enables the thought of free will, and the world could become a better place if everyone was motivated like Equality.
In the book An Invisible Thread, the author often provides examples of parents that have a poor quality of parenting. First there is Laura’s father Nunziato Carino, who’s a bartender. After he is done with his shift, he would often come home drunk and yell at his son, Frank who is Five. Frank will quickly hide under his bed sheet as his father dammed his name again and again. This happened frequently and every one would hide in their rooms as unfortunate Frank takes his father’s heavy word beating each night.
Moral Assessment of Anthem In Ayn Rand’s novel, Anthem, Equality lives in a communist society that believes everyone must work for and be exactly like one another. For much of the novel, he believes what the Council of Vocations tells him, despite his intelligence and independence. By the end of the book, he realizes that the idea that everyone is the same and must work for each other is flawed. He deserves to live his own life and enjoy himself.
Setting is important to any story, and having a setting that creates a story helps give the reader a better feeling about what they are reading. Writers use setting all the time in a story to make a great story an amazing story. In Barry Callaghan’s “Our Thirteenth Summer” Barry uses setting to give the reader the reaction he intended to. In an introduction before the story titled “About the Story” the author states that “it's during the Second World War” (Callaghan 123). In addition Bobby also declares that they are not Jewish by saying “We're not Jewish” (124) after the narrator asks and argues that they are.
Anthem is a book that makes oneself contemplate the future and what evils are bestowed upon it. In this novel, the reader is caught in the life of Equality. Equality’s life is placed in the future, where the feared reality of communism has conquered all but the souls of few weary men. Equality is one of those few men who have a light that is invulnerable to a ravaging wind. Equality’s time captive before his extraordinary escape has taken a toll on his body and mind and now at the end of his journey forces him to question whether the decisions he’s made are full of sin or teeming with righteousness.

In Ayn Rand’s dystopian novel, Anthem, the citizens are trained from birth to think only in the plural, to the point where they cannot even conceive of individuals, but only see each other as part of the whole group. Rand’s protagonist, Equality 72521, begins the novel as a street-sweeper who is devoted to the group, but begins to move towards individuality as he progresses towards pure selfishness, as Rand believes we all should. Rand uses the words “we” and “I” to represent Equality’s journey from being dependent on the group, to being utterly independent of everyone.

The novel takes place after World War I when no one concerns themselves with reality and drinks a lot. A Dystopian society between the real word and the book “Anthem” have a unique set of differences and similarities. In North Korea it’s structure is known as SongBun, a society as to which their ruler is the person they must worship and make all living sacrifices to please their “God”, however in the book “Anthem”, by Ayn Rand, they must live in a society where they must love all brothers as one and only one whole. In one law that’s unique in their own that they share is that they must obey or be given death as punishment. Nor shall they question what they are given as their career. The people in the society between them are different, yet the amount of love they believe is the “right belief” is equal.

I have always thought of the Star Spangled Banner to be just a song that represents our country and troops. Now that I see the whole back story of the the beautiful poem it changed my entire perspective of the song. The Star Spangled Banner not only represents the Country that we live and the troops that die to keep us safe, but it represents the lives that got taken from the brave soldiers of 1812. Knowing that even though they were given a warning of the flag they stood up and said “no I choose to represent my country”. You never see people in this generation that would rather stay to themselves with WiFi, phones, video games, clothes, friends.
