Washington was an amazing leader with many problems and still had victories. He trained a group of men who were not fit for war. The colonial army consisted of farmers and commoners, not highly trained fighters. They fought with Washington for freedom. With how poorly these men were prepared for way, the outcome should be totally different. The Americans had many problems gaining supplies. So many supplies were running very low that clothes were becoming an issue. Some soldiers didn’t even have boots to wear which in the summer wouldn’t be a problem but it becomes a problem when it is the dead of winter. With funds being low, soldiers often starved to death. The colonial army also suffered a great shortage of gunpowder. The army needed lead,
Washington's administration contributed to the victory of the American Revolution since his victories at Trenton and Princeton made further men join the fight for independence. Georgia Washington was defeated in New York because Britain had more manpower with 45,000 soldiers and the America's 28,000. The morale of the Patriots was small because of the defeat. George Washington's victory at Trenton and Princeton gave much more power of New Jersey and Pennsylvania to the Western, which helped boost the morale of the army. Washington was pulling two victories after those failures, it gave them faith again, maintaining to bring in new soldiers.
Valley forge was a winter camp for the continental army who fought in the American Revolution for independence. It was 18 miles from Boston so they could keep a close eye on the British. As you may know, Valley Forge was a horrible place and I would quit. Deaths and illness were very high. At one point on February 1, 1778, more than half of the soldiers were unable to report for duty.
When I look at the George Washington picture I notice how the artist uses lighter colors to make Washington stand out among his achievements, such as the crumpled up British flag in the left hand corner. When I see this article of art I think that Washington must have been a wonderful officer and won many battles. However, when I add what I have learned about Washington it changes how I see the picture because Washington was not always a great general, he made mistakes but he learned from them. He learned a lot from his first battle at Fort Necessity in the French and Indian War, which helped him adopt the strategic defensive he used in the revolutionary war to help his men stay alive and keep fighting to show that American would not back down.
What if George Washington had died prior to the American Revolutionary War? General George Washington was not only the first president of the United States of America, but he was also the leader of the Patriots during combat. In the historical fiction book Chains by Laurie Halse Anderson, the win by the Patriots at Princeton is described as a major win. The Patriots held prisoners, so the British started treating their prisoners better (ch. XL).
This battle wasn’t really Washington’s great strategy but Benedict Arnold’s great strategies. The battle of Saratoga was really two battles at the same location. It starts off with Burgoyne taking over Fort Ticonderoga, but after taking the fort he moved slowly to his next destination allowing the survivors to regroup with Washington, General Horatio Gates and Benedict Arnold. When Burgoyne heard of this he attacked and Arnold led a group of troops to block a flanking column which eventually flanked them. Burgoyne retreated and attacked later and Arnold even after being told not to by General Gates took several key points and forced him to surrender.
I 'm a very good math person so I 'm always running numbers through my head and thinking of the odds and Washington 's army didn 't have the best odds you could easily tell more than half of them were sick and that 's a lot more than is usual for an army. At any point the British could come and attack us and they would easily win. My second reason is the food shortage and limitation. I have to eat every so often because i 'm always hungry, Washington 's
There was a shortage of uniforms and clothing for the soldiers. They were often without shoes, coats, and pants. Washington tried consistently to cloth the soldiers and provide them with necessary garments. Some books state
Washington in the Civil War was not Washington at the time- It should be noted that she was only the Washington Territory. Regardless of the title, the Washington Territory was the farthest place one could be away from the war itself. In the time when it first started, Washington and her citizens were only just recovering from a number of conflicts- The Pig War being one of them- such as the only recently made peace with the Native Americans (Native Washingtonians?) , and she and her people were kind of stressed out at the time the Civil War started.
Georgina Casillas 10/19/17 Block 6 Were American colonists justified in fighting a war to break away from Britain? With a great sense of nationalism and pride in the year of 1763 colonists were celebrating the victory from the French and Indian war. This war left the British government in debt. The British tried to pay off the debt
As it says “There comes a soldier, his bare feet are seen thro’ his worn out shoes, his legs nearly naked from the tatter’d remains of an only pair of stockings.” (Doc.C). As you read this I’m sure you notice that the writer (Dr. Albigence Waldo) notices a soldier nearly naked, without clean clothes and shoes, just tattered, shredded remains of shoes and clothing. The next reason I would like to address, as to why I would not re-enlist due to supply shortage would be, said by a Valley Forge General soldier, written by Dr. Albigence Waldo “A general cry thro’ the Camp this Evening among the Soldiers, “No Meat! No Meat!”- the Distant vales Echo’d back the melancholy sound- “No Meat!
Washington most likely wouldn’t have won the battle without Espionage. Espionage (spying) during the Revolutionary War was important because they used the Culper Spy Ring, both sides used it, and there are a lot of famous spies. In the Revolutionary War, they had spies that used the Culper Spy Ring. The ring was used for sending private messages to Washington about the British army.
As the British men approached the colonists on the ‘Green’, they appeared to be a strong, moving force. They wore fine clothes, the colonists: casual. They were orderly, the colonists: unorganized. However, there was a difference that contrasted both armies. Skill and the need for freedom.

Soldiers that would endure the hardships and fight for the independence of themselves and their families were vital to America prevailing over the British. Washington had fought with the British in the French and Indian War. He knew the landscape and the tactics of the British Army. This proved important to the success of the
After the battle of the colonies, summer, fall or spring never greeted us again. Survival was eager for all… The world was gravid with the icy breath of winter. The desolate skies oversaw the blanket of pearl-snow. Lifeless leaves crunched as Rena and Sez ambled cautiously in the callous cold. Heaven-kissing mountains, crowned with necklaces of powdery snow, towered over them.
