It is a pleasure to be living in the 21st century, where everything is fast and easy, it is the age that is developed in all fields for all people, even little kids have their share at it, so many great inventions have come to life during this age specifically, before a hundred years ago who would have think that I can travel from one city to another in a matter of two hours or so ? Also who would have think that calling my friend who lives far away with a little device in my hands would be possible! “Smartphones are one of the most remarkable phenomenon’s of the 21st century lifestyle” expect that line to be stated in one of the Literature of the 21st century classes after a hundred years or so, smartphones are a great invention, …show more content…
For example they can use some applications that can be downloaded on the smartphone to let them share where they are and their location at the same exact moment (e.g. Hangouts) so when they are lost, the parent would know where their kid is, and find it easily without excessive worry or anxiety. Because it is a well-known fact that little kids always, in some way or another get lost at public places, I am certain that most families (including mine) have faced the situation where their youngest child get lost in public places like parks, city parks, malls and the anxiety is real at that moment, so why not make use out of this amazing device and download such useful applications for emergency cases. Smartphones as was stated before can really help in emergency. The simplest daily life situation that can occur at any moment like leaving the school early for any reason that might happen, imagine here if both of the parents were not at home working outside, how will the kid communicate with them and tell them to come and pick him/ her up if there …show more content…
These types of applications can help the kids lean, and not only just learn but learn with satisfaction and fun in a more interesting way which are suitable to their age in which we live, postmodern age! Because it is clear now that old ways of teaching are not as useful as it was before, because it was relevant to that old age not this age ! So learning via a tablet or a smartphone is much more relevant to this age and the children that live in it. Still in the learning area, if the teacher and his or her students made a forum to share and discuss the lessons and homework, or through blackboard made a discussion section more students will participate ! because in the class room there are some shy students ( I was one of them) who would not have the nerve to raise their hand and ask a question they did not understand, in the middle of the class ! So by having students discuss and share their questions and thoughts via internet is very useful and can make the largest amount of student get the course more simply. Which lead us to the following research that is done by Carly Shulter states that Smartphones can make your kids smarter ! “First, these devices are mobile and allow the parent to encourage anywhere, anytime learning," she says. "The second advantage is that, because of their
Think about the world fifty years ago. There were no phones back then and the clothing they wore was crazy. Now think about the present. There are now iphones and millions of different types of clothes. Finally, think about the world fifty years in the future.
Russel argues that the high accessibility smartphones contribute is a positive attribute for the advancement of communication, deep attachments and large amounts of time spent on smartphones argues otherwise . The author argues smartphones are so readily available to people, that gives them the freedom to communicate at any time, initiating more conversations. Although that may be true smartphone users are now constant dependency on their phones to connect them with their wide-ranging social network prohibiting them from focusing tasks in the moment Written in 2005 smartphones were a very recent phenomenon . Do to this fact Russel failed to see the future implications of a device with such broad functionality. Bill Thornton, author of “The
As of 2014, 86% of adults over the age of 18 in the UK have access to the internet anywhere (Document 11). Technology is a highly controversial issue in today’s society. With an ever-widening gap in technological knowledge between generations, many like to argue that every flaw present in someone today is due to overuse of smartphones. However, these pocket-sized supercomputers we carry around with us allow us to broaden our horizons and experience the world in an entirely new way. While some say technology is taking away our ability to be human, it actually encourages connectivity, and allows for new forms of discovery and creativity.
Technology is constantly evolving, and changing how we live our day to day life. The PEW Research Center found that 68% of adults have a smartphone, while 86% of people between the ages of 18 and 29 do. Technology evolves so fast that people don’t even realize that the smartphones most people have did not exist twenty years ago. Sometimes technology changes so fast people don’t realize the harm that can come from it. Every time technology advances the need for offline face to face interactions decrees.
Into the Electronic Millennium by Sven Birkerts, written in 1991, is an informative essay that goes into depth about how society is becoming dependent on electronics as a way of communication. New generations will encounter drastic changes as a result of the switch from printed words to electronic media. Birkerts’ intent is to inform his audience about the dangers that electronics will bring to future generations. He thinks that seeking information through printed words are becoming a rarity for younger people. He also claims that since people are dependent on electronics now, people do not have a mind of their own.
How far has the West come in the last decade? Before the current decade, the smartphone simply did not exist. The item which a vast number, if not the majority, of the population use all day, every day, did not exist prior to ten years ago. What a profound change. And yet, the science and reason that brought us this invention are not enough to force humanity to accept it in all facets of life.
So it is lead to forgetting the basic way of learning. For example, when the teacher gives students homework they are turning to use of technological devices to search for the answers, rather than return to the main book. On the other hand, we can use the tablet devices in a good way to avoid all these defects, by observing teachers or the parents for their children and students and put some guidance of using tablets, such as placing the appropriate time. Also, the families can close some apps which are unwanted. (Peter, 1997,
Technology has always been progressing thus it is rampant in our society today. We use technology; depend on technology in our daily life and our needs and demands for technology keep on rising (Ramey, 2012). Wherever you look, you will see people holding different kinds of technology like cell phone, laptop, tablets and etc. It appears to most of us that technology is a necessity to the point where we can no longer live without it. According to Gavin (2013), technology moves at a rapid pace, and can be hard to keep up with at times.
The first main advantage for parents to consider buying their kids a smartphone is the practicality of phones. For example, in today’s busy world where parents work many hours of the day and teens busy doing their homework and school activities. Most parents want to be connected with their child due to being able to call them if there being late or picking them up from school. An easy way to do that is getting your child a phone
Have you ever considered the amount of productivity, responsibility, blocking of confusion, and the amount of satisfied office workers cell phones can make happen in schools. Well, if you are a principal cell phones could make everyday life at your schools a lot easier. ¨Using smartphones for on-the-fly research during class is a start. ¨ But a good next step is having students gather pertinent information and then learn ways to analyze the validity of their sources.¨ (centerdigitaled)
Technology and new innovations are welcome in the society of the twenty-first century. Technology is advancing every year, and it is being integrated into everyone’s daily life. Technology like smartphones, computers, smartwatches, smart glasses, smart tv’s, and game consoles are being incorporated into people’s homes, jobs, education, transportation, and medicine. Technology makes it easier for people to communicate effortlessly over long distances. People have the ability to search for an abundance of information at their fingertips.
Imagine a world today where people didn’t have the technologies. If there were no technologies today, humans wouldn’t have phones, computers, tablets, Instagram, Twitter, or Snapchat. Technology is now a big part of people’s society and predictable future. Electronic devices like cars, phones, tablets, and computers have all been created over time to make peoples live helpful and easier. The benefits of technology are that people can talk to their friends and relatives who are living far from them, they can learn new things and online courses, and they’re able to reach distant places within hours which took years of time to reach in olden days.
"The iPads were most effective in prompting their most disconnected students to interact in the classroom and have fun while learning"(Savenije). The iPad gives the student the incentive to want to learn in a fun and new way that intrigues them. Not only does the iPad make learning more interesting, it can also help students
The world today is overflowing with technological gizmos which have greatly affected the lives of people. People have become overly dependent on technology. The technology seems to have control over our lives. Over the last decade, it has done nothing but become more advance from day to day. Gadgets such as computers, smart phones, and television have been invented over time to make our lives easier and more convenience.
Children would waste their time too much on texting, calling and using other apps that are available in smart phones. These things make children busy, and they won’t concentrate a lot on their education. For instance, they will play games, listen to music, and so on. Another issue which smartphones distract children from their education is accessibility to internet and social media, so maybe they watch some unethical videos and use banned websites. Furthermore, it is possible that children misuse their smartphones at schools and their studies.
