In the coal strike of 1902, the miners went on protest demanding a 20% raise and a nine hour work day. Some things Roosevelt wanted as presidency were similar to what Wilson wanted but very different. Another important idea in his platform was the “Square Deal”. His concept of increasing welfare for poor Americans and fair business competition. The Progressive Era began in the 1890’s directly after the Industrial Age. Teddy Roosevelt was one of the people who made a huge impact during the progressive era. Roosevelt always did things no matter what because of his determination for things, and I think that many of the laws made would not have been passed and issues could still be happening up til this day. Roosevelt pushed for things to be done a majority of the time, and I think that there is no one out there quite like him who would take as many risks as he did. He was the type of guy to not hesitate in situations, and always tried to find ways to resolve issues in the society. Even though most president’s goals are to solve problems, Roosevelt fought for everything he believed in, whether it was right or
Theodore Roosevelt was first affiliated with the Republican party but in some areas was clearly progressive or Democratic. Roosevelt’s platform, the Square Deal, promised government intervention to those who needed it and he sought through to it. He was the first president to take the side of the labor worker during a dispute between employee and employer. Roosevelt also became known as a trustbuster even though the amount of trust he busted paled in comparison to the amount Woodrow Wilson busted. The FDA was also created during Roosevelt’s presidency as the first regulation of the food industry in U.S. history.

President Theodore Roosevelt and President William Howard Taft enacted amendments and acts that had to do with the claims of the progressives. Most presidential elections are a competition between two respective parties, but in 1912, the election became a four candidate fight. The true competition existed primarily between two candidates, Theodore Roosevelt (TR), running for what was once legal-- a third term, for the newly formed Progressive party, and Woodrow Wilson, former governor of New Jersey, for the Democrats. The remaining candidates, Eugene V. Debs, running a the fourth time for the Socialist party, and Wilson Howard Taft, running for re-election with the Republican party, stood little chance against their competitors. Looking at the results and numbers only, one might like to think that the election was insignificant and a blowout win by Woodrow Wilson, but taking all the

In these he wasn’t very honest and he wasn’t looking into the best interest of the country. And a few other presidents also did the same they all entered with the best intentions and then so many things happen along the way. In the Progressive Era Theodore Roosevelt was the president in part of the time and during that time he tried to as honest as he could and he stayed that way till the end of his presidency. He wanted to be honest to remedy all the corruption in the Gilded Age he wanted to put American back on the right track.
