Tom coughed, wiped the blood from his mouth, and looked around. Everything around him was burning, including his jacket. He cursed, and beat the jacket with his sleeve. While doing this, he glanced around, taking in his surroundings. His memory was hazy. He could only remember the sound of screaming, and fire. Lots of fire. He shook his head, trying to piece together what had happened. He closed his eyes, trying to concentrate. He still couldn’t grasp what had happened. Tom let out an expletive, and suddenly hid behind a tree, pistol ready. When he turned around, poised to shoot, he saw a bunny. Smiling and shaking his head, he pulled out a precious carrot from his backpack. The bunny sat up and sniffed. Cautiously, the rabbit slowly made its way to Tom. He gave the bunny the carrot. The bunny held the carrot to its nose, and after staring at it for a second, devoured it. Tom laughed, the sound filling the air. He fed it another one. He broke the lock, and leaped through it. Unfortunately, the man chasing him caught him and tackled him. Tom fell, and felt something cold press against his head. The man croaked, ”Move and you die.” Just then, the bunny came around, and silently, moved to the man. It leaped at the man biting his hand. The man cried out in pain and let go of the gun. Tom scooped up the gun, but it was no use. The bunny was attacking the man furiously, trying to save the stranger who had fed it carrots. The man finally detained the bunny. When he looked at Tom, a bullet pierced him. He fell, and Tom’s breathing eased. The bunny ran to him, and looked at him as though nothing had happened. Tom’s anger slowly turned to awe. “You are one good bunny,” he murmured. Picking it up, and handing it his bag of carrots, he walked out the door, where he drove a car to his home. There, he raised a family of rabbits. To date, he has 24 bunnies, and he still cares for all of
