There are implications that can be made on the fact that having values is a vital necessity for the success of an individual, family, or community. Every decision we make is a reflection of our values. These decisions allow for a better cohesion amongst people we meet in our everyday life. Reality escapes the window, and they are left in awe, as their mind starts to illustrate a story that gets etched into their mind and leaves them in a daze. That is how I felt when I saw my girlfriend for the first time. Romantic love is exhilarating, passionate, and emotional. It is relatively hard to describe in a proper format how one feels during this part of their relationship. It felt like a dream come true. All the movies watched, books read, songs sung were now a reality. However, this phase didn't last long. Although romantic love was a great beginning for a connection, an intimate start, it is merely an illusion, or really a lust for a very demanding level of intimacy. As I got to know my girlfriend better, I realized that because of her, I learned a lot of other good values that she utilizes in her everyday life. You work very hard and laborious jobs throughout the day. At the end of the day, you are tired, you are weak. You just want to go home and relax. But as soon as you get home, you get taxed with the job of taking care of your family. You have to provide food, clothing, shelter, and ensure that they are safe and satisfied. You don't make enough money, yet you still find a way to make ends meet because they are your family. This is the story of my father. When we moved to the U.S, there were many hardships that we had to go through. My mother didn't know English very well, so she was limited to staying at home, and taking care of us. My father, however, was taxed with working various jobs that did not pay well. Sometimes I wonder why my father went through so much trouble? Even though he didn't make a lot of money, he always made sure that I got whatever I asked for. He went above and beyond to get me the product of the highest quality. Familial love is a very deep, and personal love. It is one that gets stronger as time progresses. Through my father, I realized that love is a sacrifice. At the beginning of our relationship, we noticed how much we were alike but also different in some ways. Our differences in views at the time would cause us to argue. As a couple, we started to criticize and become defensive towards each other. I look up to my partner in the sense that he knows how to calm a situation down. With time, we learned about each other in detail and became more understanding on how we can be our best selves together.
