Associations representing the professional organization are tasked with the duty of developing and tailoring a code of ethics to assist its members to understand expectations in their professional role. For example the American Health Information Management Association and the American Physical Therapist Association established a code of ethics for its members. Each association considers the relation of the health professional obligations and constructs a code of ethics to serve as guidance to the professional.

The NAADC Code of Ethics are stipulations that dictate the attitudes and behaviors of people. The NAADC Code of Ethics provides guidance for individuals in the addictions behavioral health field to perform as honest and virtuous professionals. The codes suggest identifying your own strengths and weaknesses, skills, and areas that need improvement. The NAADC codes were established to direct the members. The regulations are the criteria of behavior for addiction experts. Each of the policies were created as a record of the ethics in the profession and as a manual for molding clinical decisions. Using the NAADC gives the professional a foundation to use when working with a client whose morals are different than your own.
NAADAC Code of Ethics and the ACA Code of Ethics both serve as guide for the counseling professionals. Although, they may work from different angels, their common goals are for the well-fare of clients. Further, The ACA and NAADAC provide professionals guidelines for counselors to prepare them when providing treatment to clients. Both ethical codes can and will help you and provide you with the necessary information of what are ethical and what is not ethical behavior, it is essential in the counseling relationships (NAADAC, 2013). These codes help counselors to understand how their own values can interfere with the counseling interventions and how this can affect their patients. If a client has different values than yours it shouldn’t affect their treatment.

They purposely disobeyed U.S. laws and betrayed their customers as if they are above the law and entitled to whatever they want to do. They knew the consequences of their actions and what surprises me is that such a successful company, a role model in the automotive industry, would engage in such ethical behavior. Was the profits they were making not enough? Because according to the statistics, they are the largest automaker by sales. You would think that such a well-known business would prioritize ethics in order to differentiate themselves from other corrupt companies. As such a prestigious company, I expected Volkswagen to act with more respect to the well being of their employees, customers, and the rest of the world.
