Lincoln was a heroic president, he fought for the slaves’ freedom and he led the American through the Civil War and encouraged the Congress to pass out the Thirteenth Amendment in which outlawed slavery in America; He is a hero and his achievements still positively affect us in current days. Did you know how terrible would it be if our country, The United States of America is split into half and would not be called the United States of America but one will be The States of Union and the other will be The State of Confederacy? Lincoln was the hero to stop the Southern part of America from separating from U.S., Lincoln and the Congressman made an army called “Union” which fought in the Civil War between the Northern and the Southern states of America. During the Civil War, our nation
A meeting was called up, number of delegates have met in Philadelphia to discuss/construct a new form of government. Here is where George Washington became America’s first president and a new government was formed. George Washington was a leader of integrity and respected all his people and their rights, he lead by the land of the law (the Constitution). The system had been very successful, the national government had an increase in power in which the civilians were no longer allowed to do as they please. It had created boundaries between the two.
The Gettysburg address is the most iconic speech in our nation’s history. Some might say that Abraham Lincoln was our greatest president our nation has ever have, they might be right. Everyone knows him for what he did to free the slaves. Is also known for the greatest speech in American history, the Gettysburg Address. Why is this a famous speech?
John Tyler did great with his domestic and foreign affairs despite him being and forcing himself to be the first Vise President to become an President. He struggled to do many things with his obnoxious administration going against him every day. Tyler 's domestic affairs along with his greatest success was when he fought Congressional attempts at usurpation to establish the precedent that a Vice President becomes a full president with all a president’s powers on the death of the incumbent President. His greatest failure was being a slave owner and serving in the Confederate States Congress during the Civil War. Tyler 's major foreign policy achievement was the Webster-Ashburton Treaty with Great Britain.
Born into a non-aristocratic poor family, somewhere in the Carolina’s on March 14, 1767, was a man named Andrew Jackson. Jackson, also called “Old Hickory” was a very bold proactive man in American history. From being a military hero and founding the democratic party to enacting the trail of tears and dismantling the of the Bank of the United States, the man and his legacy are a prominent topic for scholarly debate. Some believe he was a great president and some believe he was the worse president. But if you look at it from a moral perceptive or in the eyes of a foreigner, Jackson’s legacy was far more villainous than heroic.
Napoleon Bonaparte, Adolf Hitler and Joseph Stalin, were indeed three of the most powerful leaders in the history who had left lots of impacts behind, either good or bad. These men were not only each triumphant in their time periods and in their countries, but also the people who have shaped the world today. Out of these three leaders, Napoleon had the greatest impact; more specifically, he has fundamentally influenced the modern Europe the most by establishing nationalism, realizing the importance of intellectual development, and by exercising his Code Napoleon. All of these actions were important because they took a step toward the modern democracy. On the other hand, the other two totalitarian leaders failed to fundamentally change Europe;
Although society now looks at Truman as being one of the greatest presidents as he was able to end World War II. Macbeth is viewed as one of the greatest fictional characters ever created, it is said that, “ ambition can tarnish even the
George Washington The First President Lots of people think that George Washington was only the first president and did not do much else. Many people know that George Washington was the first president and he was a good leader who fought a important war, but he was so much more than that. George Washington changed the world by fighting and winning the Revolutionary War. He became one of the most famous American born soldier, and he became the first president to lead America. We link the word honor to power because of all those great accomplishments that person has completed in their lifetime. Such as an example is Abraham Lincoln. He abolished slavery, while he was the president. America views him as a very honorable man because until his assassination, he fought for what he believed and what he knew was right for all of America. We have even slapped a nickname to this great American, Honest Abe.
The most impactful portion of class thus far, has been the discussion regarding Thomas Jefferson and his often contradictory positions regarding his racial ideologies. Thomas Jefferson, has gained acclaim as one of the true pioneers of American culture, shown through acts such as drafting the Declaration of Independence, and completing a full transition into the office of the Presidency, serving as the 3rd president of the United States. Although celebrated for these feats, Thomas Jefferson also is recognized as one of the most contradictory in terms of his positioning on race. The discussion that ensued was one about his beliefs in abolitionism, while at the same time making political moves that showed an underlying dissention for Africans, and positioned an inferiority claim regarding their physical capacities and psychological capabilities. The conversation that took place was to whether Jefferson was for the abolition of slavery or against it.
Jefferson 's contributions to the develpoment of democracy in the United States was unmatched by anyone. He wrote the document the founded our nations freedom and independence. " He was one of the two or three key philosophical thinkers of his time that laid the ideological foundation of America"(Jacobson). His ideas and philosophies are what shaped our country into what it is today. He was also a large supporter of the spread of knowledge. "
Who do you think was our greatest president? Between Abraham Lincoln, George Washington, and Thomas Jefferson, I believe that Lincoln was the strongest. Lincoln managed to bring our nation through the Civil War, "one of the bloodiest and costliest in the Nation 's history" (Stone 6) with his "leaderhship, his commitment to values, and his strong moral fiber" (Stone 3). He used various strategies to survive the war, including having advisors from the opposite viewpoint to be aware of both sides of every issue. What Lincoln is remembered most for, however, is his efforts to abolish slavery, which are considered "his greatest contribution to the history of America" (Stone 5).
Abraham Lincoln, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson out of all of these presidents i think that Lincoln is the strongest because not only did he keep the nation from seperating and falling apart during the civil war but he outlawed slavery 2 of the biggest mile achievements and milestones for independence and american history. One of the reason lincoln was the strongest president out of these 3 presidents was because as a president he went through the most of all of them" it was Lincoln 's leadership, his commitment to values, and his strong moral fiber that made it possible for America to find its way through the Civil War." (stone, paragraph 2) In a way president Washington went through a civil war also but He didnt go through it as a president
Many children dream of growing up to be the president one day. Few do, and even fewer are remembered by everyone for what they did while being president. Three of these few are Abraham Lincoln, George Washington, and Thomas Jefferson. These are some of the greatest and strongest presidents of all time, but Thomas Jefferson was the strongest and smartest president because he was present and played a big part in government before the revolution, he played a huge role in the expedition of Lewis and Clark, and he had a huge impact on almost every aspect of society. Thomas Jefferson played a fairly big role in the American Revolution, and so did George Washington, but Abraham Lincoln wasn 't even alive.
In my opinion, Andrew Jackson was a good president because he was one of the most successful and interesting presidents. The Common Man always held special place in America, but with Jackson, he rose to the top of the American political power system. In the campaign of 1828, Jackson, know as “Old Hickory,” triumphed over the aristocratic, reclusive and unpopular incumbent President John Quincy Adams. Andrew Jackson was also the only President of the United States to pay off the national debt on January 8, 1835. Jackson’s strong personality and controversial way incited the development of an opposition party, the Whigs.
