ABSTRACT
Autonomous vehicle industry is increasing rapidly and working for more development and advanced features in autonomous vehicles. Many automotive companies are working and performing different experiments in public traffic environments. But the problem will arise that how pedestrians will react with autonomous vehicles, and how pedestrians will understand the intentions of autonomous vehicles.
The purpose of the research project is that how pedestrian will intact and communicates with autonomous vehicles. Additionally the project included how the pedestrian will intact with vehicle by introducing an external communication interface.
The project relied on the observations and finding of the psychology department of TU Chemnitz that how

3. To improve pedestrians understanding and feeling of comfort towards autonomous vehicles.
4. To develop a prototype that will communicate with pedestrian instead of driver.
1.2.1 Motivation
Road users/pedestrians and drivers communicate with each other in a complex manner like various skills and knowledge from childhood, traffic signals, different body gestures, social interactions and eye contact which is difficult to interpret for pedestrians to understand the intention of driverless cars in complex and dangerous situations.
The main focus of the research project is that when fully automated vehicles are introduced into market commercially, the pedestrians can easily communicate with the automated vehicles and understand the vehicle intentions without getting into dangerous situations. This required a prototype which can communicate with the pedestrians and take the advantage of the possibilities of self-driving vehicles.
The motivation of the project is to improve the communication, understanding and comfort level of pedestrians towards autonomous vehicles, so that pedestrians can make decisions that maximize freedom of moment in safest possible

Phase 1 emphasis on the ideas and technology used by different research and development companies on pedestrian and autonomous vehicles communication.
2.1 Concepts from RISE (Research Institute of software evolution) & Viktoria Swedish ICT
RISE and Viktoria Swedish ICT have anticipated a number of ideas and concepts for possible communications prototypes for autonomous vehicles and pedestrian’s interaction. These concepts are used as key factor to the concept for this research project.
2.1.1 LED Grill
One of the concepts from RISE and Viktoria Swedish ICT is that front grill of the vehicle is equipped LED Matrix, that allow the car to display two dimension signals. This concept is also used by many other automobile companies. Different warning signal in two dimensions matrix which can be easily understand by pedestrians are implemented. The pedestrian can easily interpret the intention of the car and make the decision to pass by or to stop. Figure 2: LEDS in Grill

Harwell effectively presents his argument by utilizing the Aristotelian appeal, ethos. He uses this appeal to the fullest extent in this article, which establishes his credibility as a writer and driver. He begins his argument by describing these new driverless cars, “Cameras and computers that alert you (and hit the brakes) when they suspect a potential crash; systems that smoothly steer the car along turns and curves at highway speeds; and even "adaptive cruise control," which changes its speed, second by second, to mimic the flow of traffic,” (Harwell), this tactic is effective becomes it frames his argument. Additionally, he presents the experiment he conducted; he drove two of the more economical driverless cars in the market. Harwell explains why we should not depend completely on these new vehicles, “On the other hand, these cars will punish us for trusting them too much.
Did you know that in the near future, it is possible that cars could drive themselves? Driverless cars are now beginning to become reality with many big companies starting to test them out on the streets. Driverless cars are cars that drive themselves without needing a person to drive it. They are run by a computer system that analyzes everything needed when driving like, the weather conditions, other vehicles, stoplights and many more. Driverless cars could be on the market in 2019, this could change the lives of many by affecting where people would prefer to live, while also saving their money.
When a driverless car is faced with an unavoidable collision, a driverless car could do one of three things; the car could swerve left and hit an elderly woman, swerve right
On June 17, an 80-year-old cyclist was killed when he was struck by a charter bus in the Chelsea section of Manhattan. Unfortunately, he was the second cyclist struck and killed by a bus in the Chelsea neighborhood in the same week. Sadly, these two men were the fifth and sixth bicycle fatalities in New York City so far this year. Luckily, there are several things people, both bicyclists and motorists, can do to reduce the chances of similar accidents happening.
Driverless cars heralding a great future or ummaned killers? Driverless cars should be on the road because they can really assist people with disabilities, they reduce the amount of car accidents , and they will allow you to do virtually anything on your way to your next destination! Self-driving cars were originally created to explore the world without the constant risk of human error, but not only they meet that requirement but the could also help those with disabilities that shut down their senses. The blind, the deaf, and the physically impaired will be able to get around effortlessly. They will be able to enter vehicles and go places without the help of other people.
K. Narla, senior director, Transportation Technology, Institute of Transportation Engineers, Washington, DC, USA. In this article topics like “Building the Foundation for the Smart Driver Transformation” and “Connected Vehicle Safety Pilot Model Deployment” are very important when it comes to making the change from smart drives to smart cars. The article also talks about the amount of safety nets that have to be but in place to make sure that the cars can communicate with the sensors they have to communicate with. Kirkpatrick, K. (2015). The moral challenges of driverless cars.
The technology that we have today is unbelievable compared to what the companies had when we first started to make cars. We all know that our future is getting more and more advanced, and we will possibly have these self driving cars within the next ten years. Overall, we need to prepare ourselves for the next generation of cars. This research paper is written to explain safety, pollution, and time that will be saved with the use of self driving cars.
Response to the Part 2: PESTLE Analysis on “Driverless Cars” in My City..... I am working in Hosur, Tamilnadu. Since already Mr. Kesavaraj covered his analysis on Hosur, I would like to take my Native City “Coimbatore, Tamilnadu” for my analysis. “Coimbatore” – Manchester, Nucleus & 4th Largest Cosmopolitan City of South India. It is well known for its year around awesome Climate & world’s Sweetest drinking water “Siruvani”.
While self-driving vehicles will provide a new form of technology in the future, they will affect our society by being an emerging technology that is innovative, dangerous, and unreliable. Self-driving cars are a new form of emerging technology. An article that was recently published discussed the positive and negative effects of self-driving buses which led to research on self-driving cars. The emerging technology of driverless vehicles was introduced on public roadways. Crelin stated that “Long predicted to be an impending and emerging technology, driverless vehicles developed slowly over the course of the twentieth century but emerged fully into public view in the first decades of the twenty-first” (1).
Technology will evolve, as it is in its natural way to do so. Thus, in the car manufacturing area the purpose for the near future is to produce autonomous cars. People love the idea of making driving more enjoyable and comfortable, and less stressing by continuously keeping the steering wheel and pushing the pedals. Having such technology available is great, but everyone is thinking about comfort, enjoyment and pleasure of traveling by car. There are more sensitive matters that must be discussed regarding autonomous cars, and some of them are responsibility and ethics.
Problems with the Uber’s self-driving cars Uber’s self-driving program has to be handled carefully because it had experienced many bumpy experiences. Uber’s self-driving cars have met with the accidents during trial and they didn’t obey the traffic signals, this happened in Pittsburgh, this is the city where the Uber’s self-driving cars are being tested. The Uber’s autonomous car turn down to a one way street before its operator took control over it, so by this, we cannot find out, whether the mistake on the driver or with the self-driving car.
Cars technology is not only used as a way of impacting our lives but also to provide a more safe and convenient environment for transportation and even as a way of making profits for various companies. In this paper, I argue that there has been various advancement in car technology and those technologies have impacted the society both positively and negatively. There has been a massive dependency on the fast advancing technology by the society as a way of making people’s lives and those of others comfortable. People are happy about the continued growth of the car technology and the use of these cars in carrying out our day to day activities such as means of transport to work, hospital, school or transportation of goods from various places to our destinations. With the continued advancement in the car technology, the urge to provide efficient, cheap and safer cars cannot be avoided.
Technology nowadays is only getting smarter and better as the years go by; driverless cars are a big success for people that have been trying to make this happen for years. Even though driverless cars exist now and have been being tested on, many companies have not worked out all the bugs on them so driverless cars are yet to be released until companies can ensure the safety of the owners of the car and the other drivers on the road. Driverless cars could possibly lessen traffic and also lessen deaths and car accidents that happen around the world. Self driving cars were always a talk of the future and the future is now. What are driverless cars?
Across the world, hundreds of millions or even perhaps billions of people will be safer than ever, more prosperous than ever, and more efficient than ever. Despite, some people will say self-driving cars will foster an environment of less safety, rather than more. They say hackers may be able gain control of cars from the outside. However, this is not true because the sensors on a car can and will be programmed to automatically detect and shut down malicious invaders, through reasons which I actually will explain later. When the next great locomotion revolution comes, everyone needs to be ready to embrace all the benefits and great luxuries which will come with self-driving cars without any hesitation.
