Alexander did not focus only in the money he’s dad gave him but he was interested in all the teachings as he said “I am indebted to my father for living, but to my teacher for living well.” Alexander was one of the greatest military leaders that existed. He inherited an army who fought with only one purpose as he said “remember upon the conductor each depends on the fate of all”. He was great discussing and convincing other people what he wanted them to know and to do. Alexander biggest wish was to become the greatest warrior the world has ever seen. He wanted to conquer all Greece and Persia who years back destroyed and burned Athens.
He was just 32 years old. Rhoxana gave birth to his son a few months later. After Alexander died, his empire collapsed and the nations within it battled for power. Over time, the cultures of Greece and the Orient synthesized and thrived as a side effect of Alexander's empire, becoming part of his legacy and spreading the spirit of
Utilising his military skill and diplomatic ingenuity, Philip had rapidly expanded Macedonian borders north to Paeonia and then east to Illyria, regaining territory that had previously been ceded. By the end of his reign, Philip’s Macedonia was the dominant power in Greece, confirmation of which came with victory over an Athenian-Theban alliance at the Battle of Chaeronea in 338 BCE. Alexander himself is said to of remarked, according to Plutach that ‘“my father will get everything first and will leave no great or glorious deed for me to perform”’. To the contrary however, upon his father’s death, Alexander was presented with the task of conquering the Persian Empire, one his father had already begun planning for. Without doubt, this was a ‘great’ and ‘glorious deed’, but Alexander intended to go further than Philip had ever intended.
Over the years, society’s opinion of “great” has been influenced not only by the people who create the standard, but also by the people who follow it. People such as Steve Jobs, Martin Luther King Jr., and even Abraham Lincoln set the examples of what a “great” person might accomplish and what standards they might follow. For example, Alexander the Great was born 300 years before Jesus of Nazareth into a family in which his father was King Philip of Macedonia. At the age of seventeen he took to the throne as a result of his father’s death, and by the age of twenty he launched an invasion of the Persian Empire. Being successful in his efforts to conquer lands and create one of the largest empires at the time, his accomplishments led even Julius
Leonidas was set up for his Kingship because his dad was also a King. His name was “King Anaxandridas II” (Biography King Leonidas”). This put a lot of pressure on him to live up to his father’s name and make him proud. Leonidas’ known family besides his father consists of his “half brother, Cleomenes I” who was birthed by the “second wife” of King Anaxandridas II (“Biography King Leonidas”).
Pandion fled to Megara where he married Pylia, daughter of King Pylas. Later, King Pylas went into voluntary exile to Messenia, because he had killed his uncle, Bias. Before he left, Pylas arranged for his son-in-law Pandion II to be king of Megara. Pylia bore Pandion II four sons, Aegeus, Pallas, Nisos, and Lykos. When he died in Megara, Nisos succeeded him as king there.
His words and energy inspired the people. He made a big change in the world just with his voice. His word made people to stand up and fight against their enemies and saved his country during the World War II. Winston Churchill was born as part of an aristocratic family in the United Kingdom. He headed to the military school when he was young, but later he stepped into politics.
When Alexander was 18, he became the military captain.(“McGill”). But soon after that, Alexander became king of Macedon. After Alexander had a firm grip over Greece, he organized a campaign against the Persians.(“McGill”). Before Alexander left Greece with his army, he went to the town of Delphi to consult the oracle of Apollo. Alexander demanded that the oracle tell him of his future and his campaign.
To many, Washington was known for his lightning campaign and timely guerilla actions, which completely unhinged the British at times (“George Washington”). He was extremely clever and tactical and was able to think of well thought out plans. Washington also had barely any experience in commanding a large army but brought many strengths to his position (“Ten facts about George Washington in the Revolutionary War”). His only experience before was during the French and Indian War. He was able to take his untrained and small army and commanded them to defeat the British. One of Washington 's smartest moves was actually off the battlefield.
He sought political power in France in 1799 through a coup d’état and later crowned himself emperor in 1804. Through ambition and being a skilled military strategist he successfully waged war and expanded his empire. Napoleón Bonaparte should be viewed as a historical hero because he ruled for the better and expansion of France rule , the people, and he had an efficient military that led to many successful victories. Although certain historians argue he was a villain for the bloodshed and certain liberties he restricted, they fail to see the many accomplishments he led to the benefit of France. Napoleón brought success to France and expanded the government, as well as incorporated some of the freedoms gained by the people during the French Revolution.
