My life before I came this country was in Cuba. But I decided to come for a better future for me, and my family. Immediately, when I have begun to live here, I could see the big differences between that’s countries. And I could note, compare, and contrast. For example, Life style before in Cuba was full of short comings, specially, for the young people. There are not some opportunities for then, even if they were graduated from college, it’s hard to face life in that corrupted, and destroyed society, in contrast, now in Miami, young people have a great opportunity
The pennsylvania colony was one of the thirteen original colonies in America. The delaware colony was one of the thirteen colonies in America, which were divided into three regions including the New england colony , The Middle colonies , and the southern colonies. Pennsylvania was founded as a colony in 1681. Delaware was founded as a colony in 1638.
One way forecasters do this is use weather radars to view thunderstorms. This radar is called a Doppler radar. These radars show changes and the direction in which the thunderstorm is going. Storm spotters watch tornadoes, from the ground, as they form. They report what they see to the National Weather Service (Aboff & Sotirovski, 2012, p. 11). It also helps if someone has a NOAA Weather Radio, it will alert for people to watch for a tornado. People can access a local T.V., radio, or internet for more information. Beforehand, people can create safe rooms or wind shelters to provide an area for them and their family to go for high levels of protection. The rooms below the ground provide the most protection, but a safe room on the first-floor can provide the necessary protection. Families should practice tornado drills so that everyone knows what to do during a tornado. They should also find out the community’s warning system. A warning system can include a special sirens that the community has put together to warn everyone that the natural disaster is on its way (Ready.gov, 2012). People should also store enough food and water for at least 3 days (Wicker, 2015). Then, people should remain in their safe rooms or wind shelters until the tornado is confirmed to be over (Ready.gov, 2012). When the tornado is confirmed to be over, people should help look for
Wouldn’t it be exciting to grow up learning more than one language? Imagine being in Japan for a week on vacation with a group of friends, and one day decided to go to the oldest zoo in Japan, Ueno Zoo. To get to Ueno Zoo, riding the bullet train was a necessity, except knowing which line was the correct line, when to get off the bullet train, or even which ticket to buy was a daunting task. Nobody in your group has the confidence to ask the workers for help since they don’t have the knowledge of Japanese to help them. So everybody agrees to head back to the hotel to plan something else considering nobody knew how to speak a bit of Japanese, and that inability to communicate hurt your group’s confidence
Sitting in the waters of the Caribbean Sea are two islands known as Cuba and Puerto Rico. When viewing these islands, the most common error individuals make is mistaking the two islands as being identical to each other. In reality, Puerto Rico and Cuba each have distinct differences that make themselves unique.
What just happened!?! It was a tornado. Tornadoes and hurricanes have many differences and similarities. Tornadoes and hurricanes cause a ton of damage. The most disastrous hurricane was hurricane Catrina. Tornadoes and hurricanes cause horrific impact, the size of them, and they both indeed have certain locations.
Its almost time for football season, the weather is changing and animals are on the move.
Miami and New York both are wonderful places to visit. New York, it is one of the most populated cities in the U.S for their large buildings and Miami is one of the state most popular vacation spots. Although there are several similarities between Miami and New York, there are many obvious differences between them in their economy, entertainment, and cultures.
By the time Irene reached Pennsylvania and my house, it had downsized from a Category 1 hurricane to a tropical storm. Saturday, August 27, Irene thrashed through southeastern Pennsylvania. It was not long before my power went out. When the power goes out in my house it is hard not to be frightened. My bedroom windows look out into my backyard, which is where most of the trees surrounding my house are. That night, I looked out my window only to see tree limbs whipping around and snapping in half. I was so scared to sleep in my bedroom, I kept dreaming that a tree was going to come crashing into my room and crush me. Instead of sleeping, I stayed up all night with my dad. My dad was always interested in finding out what took out our power, but the conditions were too rough outside for him to go searching through the
“Because we are now running out of gas and oil, we must prepare quickly for a third change, to strict conservation and to the use of coal and permanent renewable energy resources, like solar power.”(Jimmy Carter, televised speech,1977) Just like what he said, we should develop other energy than fossil fuel because we will run out of it some days and fossil fuels are the main reason of global climate change. Global climate change is a very serious problem that we must pay close attention to. The main reason that causes climate change is that there are too many carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. If the temperature keeps getting higher and higher, there will be many problems that can cause great damage to us and the environment. If we don’t replace fossil fuels with other clean energy, our Co2 level will be as many as the time of the dinosaurs and we don’t know what will our lives be if this really happened. The best way to solve this is by using solar energy. You may think that solar energy isn’t enough but we can use it with other clean energy. It is a wise choice to use solar energy because solar energy is renewable and abundant, it is environmentally friendly, and it is also available around the world.
An example of religious conflict and the spreading out of contagious diseases is the floods in Bangladesh have sent hundreds of thousands of refugees to India. In United State, hurricane Andrew in Florida (1992) destroyed the Home State Air Force Base and caused $26 billion damage cost. In 2006, another hurricane called Ivan ruined the Naval Air Station Pensacola.
The legislature of a state often serve as the backbone of a nation. They are the individuals and groups which handle the day to day local responsibilities that keep not only their state functioning but the nation in entirety. However not all legislatures are made equal, just as America is comprised of a sundry of varying cultures and peoples their leaders and how they lead are likely to vary as well. To grasp the differences which may exist between one states legislature to another one may not look any further than comparing them. Two states which serve perfectly for this role are Florida and Texas. Both states are demographically diverse, large in geography, and large in population size. These traits allow for a more accurate representation of how the states are different and how they stack up in similarity.
A flourishing down town with fine dinning and shops. You are few people shy of the population of Dallas and Austin. Life is great, businesses are growing, Families are happy and there is little to none of poverty. Now imagine, all that gone, within a day. You look out the window or up from the porch you are sitting on and see a dark greenish sky. The once cool summer breeze is now still air. You look up out of curiosity and see approaching clouds of debris. Then while so very humid large hail fails but no rain. Then you hear them, you hear them loud and panic comes over you, you do not have long to react. Tornado warning horns are blaring, what do you do?
It was a clear sunny day on the far. I watched as my kids played soccer in the field. I felt a gentle breeze, I was horrified. I turn around to see a huge wall of dust in the horizon. I yell, “GET IN THE HOUSE!” My kids began to run toward the house as I run to get my cattle inside. I lock my barn as the storm is almost here. I look behind me to see two cattle still grazing. I knew there was no hope to save them. I barely make it inside my house when the storm is right above us. After 4 days of the howling winds and only the light from candles, we finally see the light of day again. I open the second floor window and step outside. The dust is piled up to the second floor. I look around and there is
A city is a place where a large number of populations resides for the permanent period of time. City’s importance depends upon the size, location, and structure of the area. Cities have the highly organized population which is comparatively bigger than town or village. A city can provide different opportunities to know about the culture and language. A city is a good place to continue the further education and to find a suitable job. A city can provide government facilities to its people which makes easy to sustain the life and to perform the task. In addition, the city may be regarded as a relatively permanent concentration of population, together with its diverse habitations, social arrangements, and supporting activities. Cities might differ in cultural aspects and from other types of human settlement and association. Today I am comparing and contrasting my hometown, Kathmandu and the city I am living in, Colorado. Although both of them are cities, they have some similarities as well as differences among themselves in various aspects. Such as tourism sector,
