Conquest of The Aztecs The Spanish Conquistadors were able to conquer the Aztecs because they had superior weapons, strategies, and alliances. If the Aztecs were powerful Indians, why did they not attack instead of giving the conquistadors gifts? What made them not attack? How did they permit the conquistadors conquer them?
Throughout the Americas there were many significant civilizations before the arrival of westerners. Two of the greatest civilizations that I believe were the most interesting because they both were going on at about the same time were the Aztec and the Inca empires. These were both central and south American civilizations that at their height stretched all across central and South America with populations in the millions. Since both these civilizations grew and expanded about the same time and in similar areas there are many similarities and differences between the two. The Aztecs and Incas were different because of the Locations effecting agriculture, their forms of communication and documenting, and there political systems.
When the spanish arrived, usually because of what the aztecs believe in they would have been sacrificed immediately but, in the 1500’s when Hernan Cortes a spanish conquistador, entered Aztec territory with a small group of men the aztec men thought that they were sent by their god, Quetzalcoatl which is a very important god to the Aztecs who had vowed that he would appear when the world was near its end. The spanish came looking to convert people to the catholic religion and also to get gold. The spanish stayed for awhile as a guest of emperor and the longer they stayed the more suspicious things started to become because they did not act like gods nor did they attend sacrifice ceremonies. The Aztec people dominated the 14th through 16th century Mesoamerica. They are one of the most noted cultures recognized in history books today and they deserve as much recognition for their accomplishments and errors as much as any other civilization because their works were much the same. Their religious practices were similar to that of the ancient civilizations throughout the entire world. The magnificent capital, Tenochtitlan, displays accomplishments other cities had achieved thousands of years before the Aztecs marched through what is now Mexico. Even the fall of their empire was like that of the far away Celtic civilization and countless others.
History: Aztec Life and Culture The Aztec civilization is one of the most spectacular examples of culture and art found in world history. The Aztecs were a group of American Indians speaking Nahuatl who arrived on the North American continent from the arid cactus lands of Northwest. They settled in Mexico for centuries where they were initially enslaved by the other Nahua tribes before emerging as a powerful tribe. The history of the Central Valley of Mexico after tenth century A.D. is dominated by a long tradition of tribal conflicts that led to the fall of several civilizations, replaced by subsequent Nahua tribes.
In the 16th Century, Spain became one of the European forces to reckon with. To expand even further globally, Spanish conquistadors were sent abroad to discover lands, riches, and North America and its civilizations. When the Spanish and Native American groups met one another, they judged each other, as they were both unfamiliar with the people that stood before them. The Native American and Spanish views and opinions of one another are more similar than different because when meeting and getting to know each other, neither the Spaniards nor the Native Americans saw the other group of people as human. Both groups of people thought of one another as barbaric monsters and were confused and amazed by each other’s cultures.

They believed in thousands of Gods, believed that the sun and Moon were gods, and also they believed in Human Sacrifice.

All three empires also to some extent relied on trade to further itself or get basic goods.
