Loblaw’s approach to these sustainability issue is to join the carbon disclosure project which gave Loblaw’s a score of 82% in 2015. The disclosure report indicates that Loblaw’s uses a specific climate change risk management approach where a boards of directors meet every six months or more to discus concerns. The environment polices discussed are then incorporated in Loblaw’s business. The main focus to address pollution and global warming are reducing electricity usage, fuel consumption, refrigeration leaks and reduce waste (Michaud, 2015). Now, Walmart and Metro are also involved with the carbon disclosure project.
The SWOT analysis reveals that the major factors that influence the sustainability of the company are related to price, supplier sustainability, economic factors, and awareness. Since the company has continued to experience growth and the brand loyalty is strong even when faced with increasing entrants, Lululemon is attractive overall. However, there are some opportunities that Lululemon should consider exploring to help ensure that sales do not begin to decline and prevent the competition from gaining market share. Also, threats can become opportunities (shift to American manufacturers) and opportunities can become threats (technology use by large athletic apparel companies could benefit others and hurt Lululemon).

Sustainability, that is a word that is thrown around all over now in days, but what does it actually mean? It has become a buzzword in modern culture. There are many forms of sustainability. Economic, Social, Human, Agriculture, Environmental, etc... The list just goes on and on with everyone having a different definition for it.
The Houston city government, against all odds, has made significant progress in this endeavor. After being named the number one emitter of carbon in 2007, Houston, under mayors Annise Parker and Sylvester Turner, have made tremendous strides in managing the risks associated with these massive amounts of carbon emissions, while skillfully avoiding the alienation of the industries that have built the city. They have done so with numerous different incentive based programs like the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Certification program, and the luring of investors with generous incentives that have led to their cutting edge carbon capture system for clean coal plants. The Green Seattle Partnership is the largest urban forest restoration project in the country (The Intersector Project). It was formed in 2004 in coordination with the Department of Parks and Recreation, Public Utilities, and the Office of Sustainability and the Environment. They are mostly operated in Seattle city parks, and most of the people doing the work are self-organized volunteers, non-profit efforts, and City staff and crews (Green Seattle Partnership). Their aim is to do a 20-year strategic plan to sustain Seattle’s forested parks, to get rid of aggressive invasive weeds, clean up illegal trash and yard waste dumping, and do more intensive maintenance of the trees in the parks.
