Research question : Why is the feeling of ”Mottainai” disappearing from our society.

The reality of food surplus in Japan is “approximately 20 millions livings are below the poverty line”. It means that there is always one person who is having a hard time to even have something to eat in every six people. This fact is continually shocking me and it is still difficult for me to believe that one of the most developed countries, Japan is actually facing a lack of food surplus. What made me start to be interested in the food waste was when I was eating out with my friends 4 years ago. The restaurant we went was Shakeys where customers are allowed to have as much food as they want within a limited time, 90 minutes, so the people tend to get much food than they can actually eat. I do clearly remember when I saw a waiter cleaning up the table after customers left and throwing so much uneaten food into a garbage can directly. Also, I was so mad at the customers who just left there without finishing up their meals at all. I never forget how much it was shocking me and I thought it was exactly the reality of our food problem. After I ran into it, I decided to start acting and research the actual issue of what Japan recently has faced.This is the beginning of my desire which I want to get to know
