In the article “10 qualities of a good teacher,” Southern New Hampshire University, a private, nonprofit, fully accredited institution university says, “Some qualities of a good teacher include skills in communication, listening, collaboration, adaptability, empathy, and patience. Other characteristics of effective teaching include an engaging classroom presence, value in real-world learning, exchange of best practices, and a lifelong love of learning (Gagnon, 2019).” Being experienced in communicating with people comes with multiple benefits. Having that specific quality can assist in establishing relationships, which is important when deciding to teach. Additionally, being able to communicate well can help with employment.

Whatever the perspective, teachers can embrace different cultures in which children bring to the classroom their languages. Emmitt and colleagues articulate that children’s first language has differences in cultural context that can make meaning and reality. Thus, providing significant, authentic opportunities and a variety of goals into a diverse classroom can emulate real life literacy experiences. 2.1 Spoken English language variations Standard Australian English (SAE) is the variation of English amongst others recognized as the Australian official language, Fellowes and Oakley (2010). In the three articles “Do you Speak American” by Robert Macneil, “Why Good English is Good for You” by John Simon, and “Lost in America” by Douglas McGray they all share the same theme that Americans lack the motivation to be culturally diverse and broaden their horizons outside of the American Culture due to the lack of funds. This basically means that Americans lack the motivation to learn more about their culture and other cultures because they focus more on fitting in and doing the same thing as all other Americans. They lose the drive to be different and to educate themselves based on where they came from. In “Do You Speak American”, Macneil emphasizes how even though we have different cultures within America, we are all “Americanized”
Arne Duncan, an American education administrator once said, “When I ask teachers why they teach, they almost always say that it is because they want to make a difference in the lives of children.” This statement hold true for countless teachers across the nation, and Mr. Warren Bowe is no exception. The moment the assignment was in my hands I began brainstorming possible candidates for the interview. Although I was disappointed I could not interview my former A.P. English teacher Mrs. Bowe, I was just as delighted to interview her husband, Mr. Bowe, whom taught English at Chippewa Falls Senior High School as well.

The United States is a place of freedom. We are a mixing pot that unifies as one. Many religions, cultures, and languages make their home in the Unites States. Many foreigners see the U.S. as an opportunity to seek better lives and education, but when it comes to foreigners and native-born non-English speakers that do not yet know English, it becomes a little more difficult to go about an average day let alone make a better future. Children in school often become English Language Learners, or ELL, to assimilate to the American standards.
Leonardo da Vinci once said, “Learning is the only thing the mind never exhausts, never fears, and never regrets.” To learn is to acquire, to gain, knowledge or skills, be it through study or by experience. For some, it is an interesting and fun process in life, for others, not so much. Thus, some may find it a bore or a chore and others may find it difficult when learning. However, if a student were to understand and master the difficulty of a particular skill or subject, the skill/subject would certainly gain some interest and confidence from the student when learning, from then onwards.
For example, one of my English literature teachers at university was the most outstanding example for me to be considered as an effective teacher.

Being a teacher is a journey that has much to do with learning about yourself and being aware that what happens in your classroom reflects only on how are you with yourself. Teachers are not conscious that they project into students, and that affects how things go in the classroom. I believe the first characteristic of a good teacher is that he/ she is always willing to analyze his/her teaching performance. Second the teacher is humble enough to receive input about the development and application of techniques, learning from it and improving.
