( PETA, dogfighting) A “bait” animal is, Dog-baiting is the setting of game dogs against a chained or confined animal. The dogs bite and tear at this dog to weaken the opposing animal killing it or putting it close to it ,meaning basically it prepares this dog that is about to fight how to act, during the real deal. Puppy mills are another way of cruelty to dogs, they are based upon, pure greed, where profit is the given priority over the well-being of the dogs. Having a pit bull as a pet is like having any other pet, most pit bulls are warm, cuddly and very enthusiastic. They tend to provide security, comfort, and studies have shown that pit bulls have an extreme and extensive psychological and therapeutic effects on humans of every age. Yet in over 1,000 US cities and more than a dozen of counties within 36 states it is illegal to own this specific breed and they have a “breed-specific legislation”. Pit bulls were not born vicious or aggressive; they are raised to behave this way by irresponsible people. Although others state that studies have proven that pit bulls carry this aggression in their DNA.
Introduction: Has it ever crossed your mind where pet stores supply their adorable, irresistible-looking puppies from? They may look cute, most don’t exactly come from the nicest places. Most store displayed puppies come from a mass production, being bred in inhumane conditions. These companies are known as puppy mills. It has been proven that puppy mills supply almost 100% of all pet store animals.
A puppy mill is an inhumane organization that breeds and sells puppies. Puppy mills have been around since before 1970. To this day there are more than 10,000 mills existing in the United States (Humanesociety). These mills are mostly inspected and licensed by the U.S.D.A. (National Puppy Mill Project). It has been estimated that a mill in Iowa brought in $15 million a year (Hesse).
I don’t understand why someone who treats their animals so badly can go to jail, but a person who does just that with over 100 dogs doesn’t. These puppy mill breeders have no little to no concern for the health and welfare of the animals. These conditions that the dogs are living in are considered inhumane and even cruel but unfortunately they are legal. So, it is very important that future pet owners seek rescue dogs from their local shelter or buy pets from a trusted breeder in order to put mills out of business. Many pet store owners will tell you they get all their puppies from “licensed USDA breeders” or “local breeders.”
Many people know about the existence of puppy mills. However, they do not know the true reasons why many animal cruelty prevention organizations have started attacking the basis of puppy mills. Puppy mills are a commercial breeding business where dogs are mass produced. Which does not sound horrible until you find out about the filthy and unhealthy environment, these vulnerable puppies live in until they get shipped out to a local pet shop. The dogs bred in these puppy mills are typically damaged either physically or emotionally.
What is a puppy mill? According to the ASPCA a puppy mill is a large-scale commercial dog breeding facility where profit is given priority over the well-being of the dogs. Puppy mills are very overcrowded and many don’t have proper veterinary care. A lot of puppies have contaminated water and food and many are malnourished. Female dogs are often bred every opportunity that they get and when they can no longer reproduce they are often killed.
When you look in the window at a cute little puppy at a pet store have you ever thought about what that puppy’s life might have been like before they got to that store? Frankly speaking, I never did until I started reading about puppy mills. Puppy farms or puppy mills are institutions of cruelty usually hidden from public view where dogs are housed in shocking appalling conditions. It is not unusual for large number of dogs to be crammed together in filthy pens and cages. As a pet owner, animal lover, or as a concerned adult, it is time for us to save this helpless dogs and puppy as puppy mills are extremely inhumane and need to be stopped.
First by telling you what goes on in one, second by informing you in how they make profit from you even when you don?t know that it?s happening, and last by letting you know how to stop or avoid getting a mistreated animal as a member of your family from these heartless places. Now that you know what cruel places that some dogs and puppies come from, I hope you will put a little more time and thought into purchasing an animal from now
Puppy mills areis obviously owned by peoplesomeone who haves no heart for animals. There are several dogs who have been in cages their whole entire life. They have never felt soft grass in between their little paws or a person's hand rubbing their furry head in comfort.
