Another similarity is both Columbus and Lindbergh had to make critical decisions. Columbus had to deal with the lack of food and the disease that was spreading throughout the three boats. Lindbergh had to worry about fuel, which if he ran out of would cost him his life. So Lindbergh had to know of where the land was. Finally, the last similarity between them is they both crossed the Atlantic Ocean while overcoming adversity such as the storms on the water, and the severe turbulence in the air.
The stories "The Lottery" and "The Hunger Games" are very similar to one another. Both stories show fear, sacrifice, and violence in some way. The government is corrupt and is not willing to stop deadly traditions that have gone on for too long. These traditions should have never started in the first place. In "The Lottery," citizens fear that they will no longer be able to grow crops as a result of not having this deadly game.
In The Martian, Mark Watney is stranded on Mars alone with limited food and water. He turns to botany and basic chemistry to survive by creating food and water. Although a work of science fiction, the way he generated food and water is plausible, and most likely achievable for the first settlers on Mars. But how is it possible to grow food on a planet that does not have much nutrients in the soil? We are currently doing it on planet Earth with the Biosphere II.
As the postmaster general, Franklin would outline on maps where the current was so that seamen would stop sailing in the current. This discovery changed how we travel along the Atlantic to this day. According to a myth, Franklin was trying to observe a lunar eclipse but realized that the storm was not following the prevailing winds in the North East. The concept that storms always follow prevailing winds was proven wrong and yet and Franklin was yet noted with another
The money could also go into creating a machine the can cleanse the pollution and it could work on some advanced solar power panels. Exploring space also has a lot of casualties. Exploring the ocean would have some too,but less than space. Also, instead of spending money on space exploration, that money could be used to help the people that don 't have homes or are to poor to afford
The stock market crash and the Great Depression are indirect consequences of Prohibition and the effects it caused throughout the nation. However, life in Tennessee had been difficult for a long period of time before the stock market crash. A long drought had swept through the state and caused many of the farmers to give up farming and turn to illegal bootlegging and other activities in order to make a living. Bootlegging was a dangerous and hazardous occupation that is seen in the quote, “behind him the siren sounded again, louder and with a new sense of urgency. I never tried it in the rain, he was thinking.
This claim is unbelievable but someone would have to research this to know if it is actually factual. This also brings light to how so few Americans actually want the farm jobs due to the amount of hard work required. This program is supposed to show that migrants aren’t taking jobs that Americans are willing to do by stating that only 16 people took up the challenge. This represents a solid argument in favour of the migrants gaining better working laws geared towards them because it is clear Americans don’t want to do the job. “If we can put a man on the moon, why can’t we make the earth waist high?’ is a sarcastic and unrealistic comment by Colbert referring to spending all day bent over picking beans (as cited in Lange, 2010).
2) Birds represent freedom and books have knowledge which prompts the people to think and thus, have the awareness of monitoring the government and defending their rights and freedom. When books are burned, it implies that the people’s freedom dissipates. The more books the firemen burn, the less freedom the people have since they become more foolish and fail to criticize the authority. 3) The beetle incident proves Faber’s statement that the people in power think they will run on forever, but they won 't and someday the system will fall apart by itself. Clarisse said that her uncle was jailed for driving slowly on a highway and the authority demanded him to follow the majority’s practice and drive at a high speed.
Therefor, the reputations for Canadian companies were increasing obviously. Meanwhile, It was quiet easy to see that people were using the satellite to forecast the weather conditions , using the laptops to calculate and manage the files and the GPS to navigate new locations with the direction on the map. Those special and convenient products were invented during the Space Race. Professor Benjamin used to say that the satellite provide Canadians with the information to study the planet’s resources and the essential data about weather. The new technology changed
Starting with social aspects, LitterBonnie’s programmed function will relieve humans of certain jobs. Park sheriffs and community volunteers will no longer have to pick up trash in public areas and along the streets. Leading into economic aspects, LitterBonnie will have a reasonable price. This is because of its limited upgrades. There is only the basic RedBot®, two small bins, a 3D-printed scoop, and a DC Motor.
Within a matter of hours of the attack, America is moving quickly to get on a war footing. American attitudes about the war change radically, [as do] American attitudes about the economy, about giving to the war. The war is not part of the culture; the war is the culture. Everything is viewed through the prism
Just like the astronauts who only had one chance of trying and succeeding, our team only could conduct the trial once, for a duration of 3 minutes. This is similar to Apollo 13 because if they had not done well on the first try, they could not have tried again since there would be dangerous amounts of carbon dioxide and too little oxygen in the ship. Had it been possible to attempt numerous times, it would have been less harder to resolve the problem in the first few tries. In summary, there were multiple connections between the astronauts in Apollo 13 and us, along with the many other things we learned about both
In the book insert scientist/s found that this organism could survive and reproduce without proteins, which they thought all living things needed, insert pg#. The ending could have been made better if it included the answer to this and the many other scientific questions the asked about the strain but didn’t get to answer, such as insert questions. From the epilogue, insert pg #, we now that NASA is delaying all other manned spacecrafts due to, insert name of fallen space craft, and its mechanical failure which led to its crashing and the spread of the Andromeda strain. (Or it crashed following the Andromeda strain). Due to the events of the story, one would assume that NASA would fix any mechanical failures and better sanitizes returning probes.
