Several startups and organizations have been venturing into the ride-sharing and car-pooling sector of transportation, with the need rising for a means to save the environment. The idea of car-pooling is rather simple: Multiple people travelling to the locations that are near to the destinations of the others, travel in the same vehicle instead of each in their own vehicle. The benefits of this practice are also pretty clear cut. Environmental, economic, social to name a few. Then why is it still yet to pick up in most parts of the world? Sudden meetings, 10-minute extensions, traffic delays, and several other factors come into play in daily life. This makes it highly inconvenient for the parties involved in a car-pooling service. Personally, if I’ve had a long day, I’d want to go back home immediately and not have to wait for my passengers or conversely my driver. At times like this, taking a bus, or an auto or your own vehicle seems a lot more convenient and sensible. Again, all it takes is one bad experience and we stop car-pooling. By providing a safer platform where users can check for passengers who have similar personalities can greatly improve the experience of car-pooling. Think of it as Tinder, but purely for car-pooling purposes. The government needs to do its bit to show that its willing to support startups and organizations who are trying to make car-pooling a popular trend in the country. Multi-national companies can do their bit by providing a form of a flexible car-pooling solution, wherein the event that one passenger/driver is late, he could pool in with another passenger/driver who would be departing around the same time. Solutions are available, but we also need the willingness and the desire to try and implement these so that we can build a better world for future
