In the battle of shiloh Grant was able to fight off the confederate soldiers and hold them off while getting reinforcements and eventually being able to win the battle. On the first day of “Bloody Shiloh,” Grant saved his army, and on the second day he counterattacked and drove the enemy forces from the battlefield and back toward Corinth. General Grant Despite its disastrous start, Shiloh was a major victory for Grant. Grant led his army from the front and would stick to his plan of attack, and was able to adapt to the attacks of the Confederates. Though he lost many men, his concern was to win the battle, and eventually the war.
While it seems like the colonists had all the advantages, they ended up losing because they were extremely low on ammunition. Due to this, the British forced them to retreat after a third attempt at climbing the hill. This battle was extremely significant because not only did it again prove the the colonists could keep up with the British, but also even though the lobster-backs won, they sacrificed double the bodies that the colonists did. This
Though the colonists suffered a lost during this battle, the morale that was achieved throughout the colonies was very high. Everyone was excited that what small force they did have that day was able to rival at least a fraction of the British. This pushed and encouraged American’s to keep pursing their independence. What they lacked in numbers, they made up for in dedication and
In my opinion there are many reason why the colonists won the revolutionary war.Perhaps it was how familiar they were with the land, or their helpful french allies. One of the most important battles of the war was the battle of saratoga. To me this seems to be the most important battle and moment in the whole war. After the colonists defeated the English in the 2 battles of Saratoga, it proved to the french that the americans could win the war and the french should come to aid the americans. The french were eager to join the war and weaken their enemy britain in any way they could.
The North had beaten the South in the Civil War. The North won the war for many reasons; they had some advantages over the South, a great leader, and the desire to win. The North and South fought many battles before the Civil War ended. Each battle had a different outcome and some encouraging the fight and some ended in despair. The North had many advantages.
Of course, since it was a movie, everything occurred more rapidly, for instance, the soldiers got uniforms earlier than when they actually got them. I found that the movie did in fact portray the volunteers well, as during the Civil war, kids in their teens were picked as well as older men, and the movie captured those details. The lack of respect that these black soldiers got saddens me, as without them, the war wouldn’t have ended easily. Without the black soldiers the army would have been way smaller. I don’t understand the logic behind treating the innocent people so poorly, who do the same thing as the white men, if not better than the white men.
“Extremely mountainous, in others it is flat...in some districts there are small woods, but otherwise is it bare of trees...Not one hundredth part of the land is fertile, nor can it bear...” (1.4, 16). This quote shows the harshness of the Mongols homelands and the main reason that they were forced to pillage the lands that they fought. While their homelands were horrendous, it was a blessing in disguise for them. By living in such hard conditions the Mongols were more adaptable to the environment, giving them a huge advantage on the people that they fought. With their adaptability they were able to go longer without food, they would take longer to tire, and were able to fight in almost any weather.
Effects of this were that Italian-Ethiopian relations reached a low point. Bad relations affected Ethiopia negatively since many weapons and technology were received from Europe which when the relations between these nations were good. This unnecessary battle emasculated the army in Ethiopia and caused many resources and lives. It had been estimated at around 4,000–5,000 killed and 8,000 wounded due to the battle. Causing Ethiopia valuable resources and money was a negative since it could’ve been saved if the mistake was avoided.
The name is a bit misleading because it suggests that the ones who were at war were the French against the Indians. This is not the case though, The French were vastly outnumbered compared to the British so they relied on the natives, also enemies of the British, to help them defeat the British. Although the extra men didn’t alter the outcome of the war it changed something in the colonies. Just like any other war, it costs money to have soldiers, weapons, and ammunition. The French and Indian war nearly doubled the national debt of the British so they decided to raise taxes on the American colonists in an attempt to raise money.
The Continental army was already outnumbered by the larger British army and having less soldiers would have lowered their chances of winning. Also even if the soldiers didn 't die right away from being infected, it would be easy to defeat an army full of sick, weak
•Both sides realized it would be a longer and bloodier war than they expected •It helped both sides get prepared with strategies •It helped inexperienced soldiers for battle •The first couple battle can add or subtract support •It showed that even though the south had less people they were still fight •It showed that the North neede better generals and soldiers •Most of all it showed the Confederates were prepared and ready to win after winning the first two battles
The American troops had other advantages, one being that General George Washington, who led the American troops, was an experienced leader. The American soldiers were very motivated fighters, as they tried to regain their rights they had lost as Englishmen when they left England to come to the colonies- they had a better reason to win and a worse reason to lose.
