As an eighteen-year-old girl I have reflected and learned that growing up in a Chinese-traditional household while being around an American environment during most of my time, I’ve learned the many difference between food culture to health/ food choices. I realized the many difference between and American meal from a Chinese meal that I would consume in my own household, such as eating a bowl or two of rice, with a big bowl of shared vegetable soup, and an accommodating bowl of proteins (fish, beef, pork, etc.) and/or vegetables. While if I were at am American school, I would resort to eating two mini cheeseburgers, a side of fries, and a pint of milk. Although, I might admit since the weathers been cold lately I have been lacking and I do wish to increase my physical activity. In all the foods we consume, we are always consuming macronutrients, such as fats, carbohydrates, and proteins, each with its own very unique way of providing to our body. Carbohydrates, for example, provide energy for the brain, nerve and red blood cells. Carbohydrates are also excellent for high intensity exercises. Carbohydrates also plays a huge role in our blood glucose because they also maintain these levels. An easy way to be consuming carbohydrates would be through a high fiber diet, this also benefits the risk of bowel irregularity, constipation, and many more things. The AMDR states that we should be consuming about 45-65 percent of daily kcals each day, which is about 130 grams, and a normal blood glucose level which should be around 70-100mg/dl. My carbohydrate levels were right at 131 grams which I would say is pretty good and a right on amount.
